Job Summary

The University has adopted the tenure-track system to capture and retain talent. The tenure-track teacher contract involves starting an academic professional career to reach a permanent hiring. It assures the teacher the possibility of presenting himself to a permanent position if the year prior to the end of his contract meets a series of previously defined assessment criteria, but does not guarantee his permanence in the university. In this academic career model, stabilization is only possible as a successful completion of a tenure-track period.

The process is the following:

Call for a tenure-track plaza

The publication will be made at least on the website of the department and that of the university, and international dissemination through the specialized websites www.euraxess.ec.europa.eu , www.academicpositions.eu and specific to the scope of the contract, with the relevant profile information.

Selection process

It will be carried out by a Selection Commission formed by at least five members, two of which will be proposed by the department. They must be experts in the field of the profile of the square, with the presence of researchers outside the UPF (ideally including a member from outside the country). In case the department / UCA in question has a Scientific Advisory Board, some of the members related to the field will be part of the Selection Commission.

  • First phase (non-face-to-face):The Selection Commission will establish a reduced list of the best candidates that have been submitted based on the assessment of the quality of the merits, the letters of recommendation and other important elements for the evaluation.
  • Second phase (face-to-face):Candidates who have passed the first phase will be invited to give a conference and conduct interviews. The Selection Commission must decide the best candidate based on the selection criteria established by the department and announced in the call.

Proposal to the selected candidate

The department will agree with the candidate the terms of their incorporation in the UPF.

Signing of the contract

The candidate will join UPF with the category of ” tenure-track teacher “. The contract must include: duration (between five and seven years), compensation and criteria to evaluate the penultimate year of the contract.

End of the tenure-track period

The penultimate year of the contract, the initial Selection Commission or another that the department has set will evaluate this period. If the assessment is positive, the UPF will initiate the procedure so that the selected candidate can access an aggregate position. If it is negative, the contract will end on the scheduled date.
