Position
The Faculty of Health Sciences has an opening for a full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure track faculty position in our Therapeutic Recreation program at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation is a post-diploma and after-degree program. Your research will be facilitated by a start-up research allowance and an initial release from some teaching duties. The Faculty has a dynamic and collaborative teaching and research culture. The degree will provide course work, practicum experience, and faculty advising that meets requirements for eligibility for CTRS status by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). The Therapeutic Recreation program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education (CARTE), only one of two Canadian programs to have this status. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in research and teaching.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. or a Ph.D. near completion in Leisure/Recreation Studies or Therapeutic Recreation or related discipline. At least one degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Leisure Studies is required and an active program of research. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by date of appointment. Be appropriately credentialed for one (1) or more year(s) and have a minimum of one (1) year of direct service delivery in Recreation Therapy.
