Thipala Montessori

Thipala de Zoysa AMI Montessori House of Children is a private Montessori conveniently located in Karlshrue Garden, Colombo. Our medium of instruction is English / Sinhala. Enrollment is open for children of all races, religions and nationalities. We accept new admissions throughout the year. School hours are from 8.30 am to 11.45 am. Thipala de Zoysa AMI Montessori House of Children is recognized by the Good Shepherd Maria Montessori Teacher Training Centre of St. Bridget’s convent, Colombo 07, the only affiliated teacher training center in Sri Lanka to the Association Montessori International (AMI) in the Netherlands.

Our mission is to develop the fullest potential of each child while being faithful to the Montessori Method.

Thipala de Zoysa AMI Montessori House of Children structures the curriculum into 4 basic areas.

• Practical Life Exercises: that instill care for children themselves, for others and for the environment
• Sensorial Exercises:
  Develop the capacity of children’s five senses and build the fundamental concepts of order, logical sequence and observation.
• Academic:
  • Mathematics
  • Languages (English / Sinhala)
  • Science (Geography, Botany and Zoology)
  • General Knowledge
• Bookwork: A part from AMI syllabus, we pay more attention on bookwork inoder to prepare the child for grade 1 class. We maintain a very high standard in bookwork (Specially Math and English) so that the child is fully prepared for any syllabus (National or London) anywhere in the world.
