Our Curriculum at United International Schools is made up of English and Arabic medium elements integrated into a single programme. We maintain a balance of these elements in every school day to ensure children learn in a completely bilingual system.
We Have the best teachers is the cornerstone of all that we do in education. We support our teachers as our most valuable resource, and encourage them to innovate constantly in bringing fresh ideas and best practice into the classroom.
In 2004 it was clear to a number of people, including Shiek Khalfan El Isry, Ms Hannat Al Hinai and I, the founders of United Private Schools, that our beloved Omani Society was changing rapidly and that a new educational philosophy was needed to preserve all that is best in our society whilst at the same time enabling our children to become internationally competitive on the world stage. Accordingly, we developed an international curriculum which was firmly embedded in Omani faith culture and values. This was done not for business reasons but to help shape the future success of Oman whilst preserving its values and identity.
Today, when We look around the country and the world, We are even more convinced that this is the right solution and approach.We are continuously improving what we deliver to ensure that we have an educational product that is not merely imported from abroad but is one that builds on best international practice and is “Made in Oman for Oman”. It enables our students to be highly educated, well qualified and most importantly, to retain their identity as good Omani citizens.
As Omanis we need to identify what success and happiness means to us as individuals and as a nation? While many nations and their schools chase higher and higher league table positions, often at the expense of other important attributes, we must challenge the traditional curriculum. Academic success by itself is not sufficient to ensure happiness and success in life.
At United Private Schools we try hard to equip our students with the tools for both academic AND personal success; an international curriculum AND the development of the whole individual, his/her spiritual, moral, cultural, social development, their character. Accordingly, we enable them to make the “right” choices in our increasingly complex world of the 21st Century. From this will come our future wise leaders, as well as good successful Omani citizens, who advance Oman economically and still preserve all that is good about our society?
