Born in 1306, our multi-disciplinary University celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2006. The University of Orleans is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Famous people like Pope Clement V (1264-1314), Jean Calvin (1505-1673), Moliere (1622-1673) or Charles Perrault (1628-1703) studied here.

The university was relocated in 1961 on the campus of Orleans La Source, close to prestigious research institutes such as CNRS, BRGM and INRA, in a city where life is enjoyable.

Situated in the heart of the “Loire Valley-UNESCO” in about a hundred hectares of forest, just one hour from Paris by train, the multi-disciplinary campus of the University of Orleans attracts and welcomes around 14,000 students — among them, more than 2,000 foreigners, that is to say 15% of the total number of students — in the framework of the LMD system.

The University’s international status has been reinforced year by year in the field of education and research cooperation. Its policy for international degree programmes represents a major asset for mobility.

The International Relations central office, in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary Thematic Institutes (ITP), faculties and other departments at the university, works towards enhancing the attractiveness and international standing of the University of Orleans.

Ph.D. students, postdoctoral students, researchers and lecturers: if you are interested in spending time at the University of Orleans, the EURAXESS Centre – a division of the International Relations Head Office – will assist you with all procedures before your arrival. These include your reception agreement, visa and housing. They will also welcome you upon your arrival to facilitate your integration.

This University has been a transformative experience for my child; the dedicated faculty genuinely invest in their students' success, paving the way for remarkable personal and academic growth.

Mismanagement of the university president who puts aside the training of students to save money. Too bad because the goal is to train the students not to send them in a wall. Otherwise excellent teachers.

A familiar atmosphere, a cosi setting, the staff is friendly. The menu is worthy of a brewery with the added bonus of surprising. Owl. Surely the new reference of young dynamic Orléanais!
