Waldegrave School has much to offer young adults of the future. We set high standards of behaviour and have high expectations of all our students. We are proud of the partnership we have with parents to ensure all students reach their full potential and enjoy school.OfSTED reported in 2007 that this is an outstanding school. Our examination results are excellent and reflect the work of committed staff and students. We were awarded comprehensive school of the year in 2016 by the Sunday Times which recognised our excellent GCSE and A’Level results. For the previous 6 years we have been the top 11-16 school in the country in the Sunday Times Parent power tables.

Waldegrave School, however, has much more to offer than examination results. We firmly believe that the most successful students are those who really throw themselves into the life of the school. The opportunities here are many and varied and all students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and make the most of leadership opportunities they are given both in and out of lessons.

At Waldegrave traditional values and respect for all members of the school community are combined with innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The staff are a committed team of highly qualified teachers and support staff who work tirelessly to gain the best from all students in the school. We want all students to enjoy learning, achieve success and be empowered to take responsibility for themselves and their futures.

Admissions for Year 7 are managed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, not by the school. Offers for September 2018 will be sent out by the Local Authority.Applications from Richmond’s residents will be made on Richmond’s Common Application Form, which will be available in paper form and online. You will need to contact your home borough for guidance if you do not live in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.

Applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2018 will only be considered after all applications received by the closing date. This is unless you are able to provide proof that there were exceptional reasons that prevented you from applying on time. Late applications are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council. A waiting list for the school will be held by the Local Authority in criteria order (regardless of when an application is received) until the end of the academic year in July 2020. After this date the school waiting lists will be disbanded and parents will have to request in writing to have their child’s name added to a waiting list for the school.

Waldegrave School Admission Appeals Timetable - Year 7 September 2018.If your child has been refused a place at your preferred secondary school, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

We welcome students of all abilities and celebrate the diversity of cultures, backgrounds and talents which students, parents and staff bring to the school. We want every student to enjoy their time at school and to achieve their best. We believe everyone has something special to contribute. We take pride in developing academic achievement, a sense of responsibility, independence, confidence and mutual respect for others.

Excellence is evident across the curriculum, which is broad and balanced and designed to encourage responsibility and independent learning. Students achieve very well here because we work hard with parents to encourage every member of the school to enjoy, achieve and be empowered.

The Waldegrave School governing body is made up of people from the school's community. Their role, together with the headteacher, is to set the future direction of the school and decide how the school's budget is spent. The governing body makes decisions on issues such as performance targets, school policies and the school improvement plan. Because our governors have a variety of skills and experience, they are able to support and advise the headteacher. They respond to government initiatives and inspection recommendations, hear appeals and consider complaints.

The school buildings and grounds are available for hire for educational, charity and other events. There is ample parking, and a variety of rooms from our large assembly hall to small meeting rooms. Educational, charitable and community events are charged at preferential rates. Please note that we do not normally hire out the school on Sundays.

Waldegrave is of interest to film location finders because of the variety of styles of building, long corridors and ample parking. We can offer both old and new styles of building (both smart and not so smart), a large well lit hall with a traditional stage, laboratories and IT suites as well as offices and 14 acres of grounds. Regrettably filming is only usually possible in the school closures.

At Waldegrave our aim is for all students and staff to enjoy learning, experience success and to develop their full potential. We have an immersion approach to SEND where all students are included in the life of the school, lessons and learning: some students may have additional help in order to do this in a meaningful way.

This is a nice school. My child has been here and she has been very happy at the school. Bullying is very well dealt with and I know a lot of people who are not bullied anymore.

Waldegrave is a decent school. I wanted to say that A level Art and Design is also worth doing at this Sixth Form.
