The Weber School, Atlanta’s only high school serving students from all Jewish backgrounds, offers a robust advanced academic and co-curricular program. Our collaborative and creative faculty lead a powerful learning community where student initiative and intellectual inquiry is encouraged and fostered while the rich interdisciplinary Jewish and general studies program features a variety of opportunities for advanced academic work and extracurricular stimulation.
The Weber School prepares its students for success in college and in life, inspiring them to be knowledgeable, thinking, responsible Jewish adults, by weaving together:
The Weber School is accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The school holds memberships in National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), Georgia Independent School Association (GISA), Georgia High School Association (GHSA), Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools (AAAIS), National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC), and The College Board.
At Weber, students receive access to a challenging integrated college preparatory program of general and Jewish studies, including a wide range of college preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement options. Weber moves beyond the narrow boundaries of individual disciplines with opportunities for students to explore sophisticated ideas.
Our students are encouraged to participate in contests and other opportunities to showcase their work, earn awards and recognition, and obtain scholarships. Students learn creative problem solving skills, active critical discourse, history, and technique. All visual and performing arts courses are designed to provide students with strong portfolio development.
Our students have regular opportunities to showcase their work, earn awards and recognition, and obtain scholarships. Student artwork has been accepted into prestigious programs such as the Holocaust Learning Trunk Program through the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition, a juried show at the Piedmont Park Dogwood Festival. We are the only Jewish high school in North America to have offered students the ability to compete in the nationally recognized August Wilson Monologue Competition, offered through Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theater.
Weber's approach to music education is comprehensive and features performance and general music courses, choral and instrumental performance ensembles, and Artists-in-Residence. Music electives span Fine Arts and Jewish Studies with interdisciplinary courses through which students are able to earn credit in either Fine Arts or Jewish Studies.
For those students interested in performance, there are opportunities to audition for Weber Chorus, as well as ensembles for instrumentalists. Performance-focused ensemble groups develop individual and collaborative musical skills. The ensembles perform for the school community, as well as in other public venues, with visiting artists advising and working with the bands.
Whether partnering in a community service project, leading a school program, or participating in a student organization, Weber students have myriad opportunities to pursue their interests. Our students are engaged and excited about their community, their friends, and their school.
Our programs reflects the rhythm of the Jewish holiday calendar and encompasses the celebrations of Shabbat and holidays. Students have the opportunity to attend Tefillah (prayer) and Kehillah (community gathering/assembly) each week, grade level trips that include service learning and education components, and an annual Shabbaton (all-school retreat). We seek to provide our students with real-world experience and integrate non-classroom learning into the life of Weber students as much as possible. Our experiential learning program offers students grade level trips each year, including a Senior Israel Poland Experience.
