West Moreton Anglican College (WestMAC) is a dynamic Prep to Year 12 coeducational Independent Anglican school. The College promotes a well-balanced schooling experience with diverse opportunities that prepare our students for the 21st century’s rapidly changing world.

Our innovative teachers inspire each individual student to continuously discover and explore their potential. They challenge our students to actively engage in their learning, becoming critical, creative and entrepreneurial thinkers, while developing their emotional, social and spiritual aptitude.

The College offers broad academic and vocational educational and training (VET) programs which allow students to select pathways that motivate and inspire them to achieve their best.

A range of extra-curricular activities provide experiences that enrich student learning. Students can participate in sport, music, outdoor education, a range of clubs and international study tours.

At the heart of the WestMAC community is faith and service. The spiritual life and mission of the College community, combined with an emphasis on student wellbeing, enhances each student’s experience. We challenge our students to be responsible and ethical citizens with an active social conscience and strong sense of community service.

WestMAC has a reputation as an inclusive and nurturing learning environment which promotes a strong sense of security and personal capability for each student. We encourage our students to value themselves and be proud of their achievements, and each other’s; creating an authentic and life-long community. We are proud to graduate young people capable of being tomorrow’s spirited leaders.

West Moreton Anglican College provides a complete Prep to Year 12 academic program which follows the Australian Curriculum and reports to the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) and Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA).

Our academic program is carefully sequenced, ensuring that each student is engaged in their learning through developmentally appropriate content, assessment and grading. The College follows the Dimensions of Learning pedagogical framework that encourages learning as a ‘meaningful experience’ through decision making, problem solving, invention, experimental inquiry, investigation and system analysis.

Our curriculum has been collaboratively developed by the academic community to ensure that high quality teaching is focused on inspiring each student to their academic potential and to be responsible for their personal learning journey.

WestMAC expects that all staff and students will be committed and actively contribute to the learning community. There is a high level of integration across subject disciplines, year levels and between our academic and extra-curricular programs, ensuring that students have the opportunity to flourish.

Our dedicated team of teachers and staff work collaboratively to support the academic program with blended-learning techniques. The use of iPads and laptops in the classroom ensures that students develop the necessary skills and abilities to remain responsive and adapt to an ever-changing technology focused world.

Our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools promote progressive curriculum design in combination with high quality pastoral care structures, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging for each student. WestMAC has a commitment to innovative and enterprising curriculum to inspire individual excellence in each student.

Westmac tries to ‘prepare’ students for the real world, but they can’t take their bags to classes, have their phones on them, can’t dye your hair, can’t wear jewellery or any kind of makeup or you’re suspended, or must attend a detention. Girls must wear socks higher than their ankles and fold them down, if boys are seen with one sock lower than the other - detention. Teachers ask students to fold out their pockets for ‘phone checks’ girls are sent home if they have any sort of acrylic nails, and are not allowed back on school property until they’re off. School ipads are restricted with app and internet restrictions which makes work extremely hard for students to complete. and if you miss one week of school you’re due to personal reasons or anything similar you’re in the office suffering consequences, as well as teachers telling their students they’re setting themselves up for failure and giving extremely nasty comments about their personal life.
