Western Pacific Kindergarten

Western Pacific Kindergarten is a non-profit making institution established in 1977. It is a multicultural school that enrolls students of various nationalities. We work in close partnership with parents and committed ourselves to nurturing and developing every child as a whole and unique person. The school operates both A.M. and P.M. sessions.

Our Mission is to provide quality early childhood education by optimizing each child's potential through the joy of shared learning and teaching and the good experience of group life, so as to lay the foundation for life long learning.

Objective:

• To provide a safe and caring environment where children can acquire learning skills.
• To provide a comprehensive and appropriate curriculum, and a wide variety of learning opportunities so that our children can experience and explore, thereby promoting balanced development in the domains of language, cognition, physical, social and positive learning attitudes.
• To cultivate integrity and self-care ability in our children so that they will grow up as polite, self-confident and self-disciplined persons.
• To nurture our children with effective communication skills in English and Chinese.

Our school is an EMI school using English as the first language and Cantonese as the second language. We enroll children between the ages of 2 years 8 months and 6 years. The dual teacher system is employed where each class is conducted by a native English speaking expatriate together with a local Chinese teacher. We believe that practising bilingual teaching in a diverse cultural background provides students with rich learning experiences, as well as greatly enhances their language proficiency both in English and Chinese.Thematic approach, whole language teaching, project approach and small group learning are employed to develop our students’ proactive learning attitude, language ability, logical thinking skills and creativity.

Both the family and the school play crucial roles in educating and socializing our children. Our school and parents have established effective communication channels to improve mutual understanding and cooperation, and gather information about our children at home and at school. We organize a wide variety of activities such as parents’ day, parent-child picnic, school teaching activities, parent-child reading scheme, parent-child mini sports day, seminars, workshops and class observations. We encourage parent to participate in these activities through volunteering, such as helping in school outings.
