William Ellis School is a distinctive, dynamic and diverse school serving the educational needs of young people from our local community. We are proud of our history and although much has changed since the school was opened by WIlliam Ellis in Gospel Oak in 1862 we keep true to our founder's principles
Our purpose is to develop in our students the knowledge, skills and qualities, strengthening their character and resolve, so that they are well qualified and prepared for their future success and wellbeing.
William Ellis is a distinctive, dynamic and diverse school where there is a strong sense of pride and belonging in the school community. Our vision is to create an environment built on success, self-discovery, developing leadership, passion for learning and acquiring effective skills for life. We are concerned with the development of the whole person: intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. We emphasise the dignity of the individual and promote respect for others.
When life brings stressful situations and worries build up, it can be hard to find the words to explain what the problem is or to feel that someone else will understand. Counselling is somewhere to turn to get support when things aren’t feeling right. It is a confidential space to share things that are on your mind in your own time and in your own way. It is about having someone there to listen to you and to think difficulties through in a non-judgmental way, helping to prevent problems from worsening and impacting on relationships, school or home life. Students often say they feel lighter when they are able to get things off their chest in a place where they can be themselves.
