Our mission is to develop a British International school in Mexico that offers the highest standards of teaching through an integral study programme based on three-pillars: excellence, creativity and human formation. The Wingate School enables children from all cultural backgrounds to value the joy of learning, and self-discipline, in order to fulfil their full potential. Our pupil-centred community also promotes a commitment to helping others, preparing students for the exciting challenges of our evolving global society.

  • To offer the Mexican market a British International educational approach, incorporating the best practices of the Mexican educational system.
  • To develop in our students a broad range of abilities which enable them to think critically.
  • To promote academic excellence in English, certified by renowned international certifications.
  • To cultivate human formation and social responsibility, developing integrity and the virtues.

The education of character is the deliberate effort to cultivate praiseworthy behaviours. Thus, at the centre of an effective character, education is a close partnership between parents and school. The virtues that help form a solid character are generosity, a sense of fairness, perseverance, self-control, positive attitudes, hard work, integrity and gratitude.

We want our students to become citizens who are concerned about their communities. During the year we will organize events and activities to support different charities and their valuable work.

The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is a research-based curriculum recognising global best practice in early childhood education and the developmental needs of 2- to 5-year olds. It supports key areas of learning through holistic enquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development. All IEYC learning and development is underpinned by a set of four Learning Strands. Each Learning Strand provides descriptions of what children will experience and learn about through contextualised activities that are embedded into the unit of learning.

The IPC embraces a wide range of themes, texts and other teaching resources for children from the ages of 6 to 12. The IPC, which is taught in English, inspires children to learn in exciting ways, also providing them with transferrable skills for later life in this ever changing and most international world.

Using the IPC, TWS will maintain high standards through a Self-Review process. It follows 9 key principles behind the IPC, ensuring best practice. These include: Shared Vision; Improving Learning; Classroom Practices; and Development of Knowledge, Skills and Understanding.

A core principle of the IPC is that “curriculum” is not just a collection of facts to be learned to pass a test. Rather, it is a means of carefully defining knowledge, skills and understandings that children need to acquire. These are clearly defined in the Learning Goals.

The IPC Learning Goals define what children might be expected to know, what they might be able to do and the comprehension they might develop as they move through the school. Carefully crafted learning goals guide both teaching and learning and help to focus assessment and evaluation.

Our teachers will select over 130 different thematic units, all of which are child-friendly, modern-day and apt topics. Crucially, these units – also incorporating Science, History, Geography, ICT, Art and Physical Education – are designed to appeal to all ages of primary school pupils. The units are related to, and grounded in, the very world in which we all live. Creative teachers such as ours, will enrich the IPC units with their own teaching material. The critical thinking that is explored and valued in the EYFS will continue to be built upon.

he Wingate School is currently growing its Secondary School year groups. In 2020-2021 we will add the Form 2 year group.

In Forms 1, 2 and 3, students will experience a range of subjects and be taught by subject specialists in the classrooms, science lab and art and music studio. Mathematics, English, Spanish, History, General Science, Geography, Creative Arts, Music, Physical Education, together with additional Mexican National Programme courses lie at the core of what is taught. ICT skills are taught and applied across the curriculum as opposed to being a stand-alone class.

Following Form 3, students will be introduced to the IGCSE. This, the International General Certificate on Secondary Education, is the rigorous set of courses (and public exams after two years of study) offered worldwide and overseen by the University of Cambridge Exam Syndicate. Cambridge IGCSEs are among the world´s most popular international public qualifications for teenagers.

Students’ results in their IGCSE exams will give them a good clue as to what to follow in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The best selection of courses is likely to reflect a fusion of academic strengths and likes. As in the case of IGCSE choices, we will provide academic counselling to help the student decide what IB subjects may suit them best.
