Yew Wah International Education School of Guangzhou (YWIES Guangzhou) is an international school in Huadu, Guangzhou for local and expatriate students aged 1 to 18 (K1 - A Level). The school was established in 2014 and has been offering stimulating and progressive learning experiences to the children of the Guangzhou region. The campus is situated in Huadong Town, offering education from early childhood to upper secondary.

Yew Wah International Education Schools are built upon Yew Chung’s legacy of providing exceptional international education for over 90 years in Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese mainland; nurturing students with the skills and knowledge to face global issues and challenges of the 21st century. The unique curriculum established by Yew Chung and Yew Wah through much dedication and time has gained widespread recognition in the world. Professor Paul Yip Kwok-wah and Dr Betty Chan Po-king founded the Yew Wah series of schools with a passion for bringing international education to students in the Chinese mainland. Yew Wah International Education Centre was first set up in Shanghai in 1998, and the first Yew Wah International Education School (YWIES) was founded in Yantai in 2000. Yew Wah continues to expand its footprint in education services by establishing Yew Wah International Education Kindergartens, Yew Wah Infant and Toddler Discovery Centres and Yew Wah Infant and Toddler Education Centres in Chongqing, Shanghai and Qingdao. YWIES Beijing Yizhuang was set up in 2016 together with the launch of the B&P International Education Park project.

YWIES Guangzhou in Huadu and YWIES Shanghai Lingang in Pudong were opened in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The new YWIES campus in Zhejiang Tongxiang was opened later in September 2017.

As we enter the second decade of the 21st century, the rapid acceleration of globalisation has also laid bare the deepening plight we are facing as humans, be it economic crises, political upheavals, regional conflicts, environmental degradation and others. The success of our continued survival and development will require immense wisdom, tolerance and technological advances.

And we do rely on learning to bring forth wisdom, tolerance, and technology. The belief that we can adopt and advocate best practices from Eastern and Western cultures underscores our commitment to promoting the integration of both. In fact, these cultures share similar views in many aspects. For example, the ideals of "loving others", "no aggression" and “frugality" advocated by Mozism, one of the most popular philosophies during the Hundred Schools of Thought period, are similar to charity, equity, social inclusivity, harmony and environmental consciousness -- principles championed globally in recent years to build a common humanity and sustainable world. In addition, certain facets of Mozism’s science and technology and its practice of theories serve as reference for modern society. There is merit in endorsing these long-neglected ideals.

China, being the world's second-largest economy and most populous country, is obliged to play its part in helping to solve worldwide issues apart from promoting the well-being of its citizens. Based in China, Yew Wah endeavours to contribute to the fulfilment of China’s international responsibilities and advancement of world peace and civilisation by nurturing our students to become global citizens dedicated to governance on the world stage.

Principles & Practices

We believe that the core purpose of education is character formation, and it is the most important shared responsibility of the school and home.

We believe that each child is unique, with innate talents and gifts that should be nurtured to the fullest potential.

We believe that quality student-teacher relationships are at the heart of meaningful engagement, leading to highly effective learning and teaching.

We believe that Learning Communities best enable students and teachers to creatively and holistically explore different fields of knowledge, fostering individual and collaborative learning skills that are critical for the 21st century.

We believe in equipping our graduates with a deep respect for and understanding of world cultures, mastery of Chinese and English, plus proficiency in other modern languages, as well as a strong commitment to meeting challenges of their generation.
