The information it contains outlines the school’s philosophy and organization. Far more importantly, in our opinion, is the spirit in which it is implemented. We strive to create a happy family atmosphere believing that a happy child is essential before we achieve an individual who learns and develops as a balanced individual.

There is an open door for parents /guardians at all times. Please contact school by speaking to the class teacher in the first instance, and then by contacting me directly should you have any queries or concerns. There is a welcome at all times.

• Enable all pupils to develop bilingually so that they may fully participate in the social and cultural life of their locality and country.

It is a specific Welsh/bilingual primary school established in 1950 and moved to the present location in 1972. It is parents choice to send their children to us. We accept both Welsh speakers and children from non-Welsh speaking homes. The catchment area of the school is the town of Colwyn Bay and surrounding area. We are not permitted to accept pupils from outside the defined catchment area. Welsh is the official language of the school, the language of lessons and play. Since a considerable percentage of pupils are non Welsh speakers, every effort is made to integrate them as soon as possible. They learn Welsh easily through activities and play, repetition and imitation. They become fully bilingual before they finish at the school.
