Ysgol Bro Myrddin opened in 1978, as a bilingual school serving the town of Carmarthen and the surrounding area. It is now a Category CC school, and the only designated Welsh-medium secondary school in Carmarthenshire. Every year, approximately 150 pupils are admitted to the school in year 7 and about 950 pupils in total attend the school. Over 200 of these pupils are in the Sixth Form, which attests to the excellent standards of education provided by Bro Myrddin.
The foundation of our success is the excellent relationship forged between the school and you, the parents. Bro Myrddin is a happy community with an ethos of co-operation, which helps us to encourage each individual to reach his or her full potential.

A wide range of teaching methods are used according to the needs of the subject and those of the specific teaching group. Investigative work, speaking and listening tasks, information technology, as well as practical work are all used. For some tasks, teachers will move away from whole class teaching and arrange group work to enable them to focus attention on individuals of varying abilities.
