Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin

Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin opened its doors on 1st September 2001 and is the cumulation of hard work and support on the part of parents and the community to meet the increasing demand in South Monmouthshire for Welsh medium education. This growth has been mirrored throughout the wider area with the creation of 7 other Welsh medium primary schools.

The success of the school is also reflected in the cultural successes that the school continues to enjoy. Highlights in recent years include appearances on stage at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and successes at local and national level at the Urdd Eisteddfodau. The school will continue to build upon its success and promote the benefits of Welsh medium education.

Choosing the right school for your child is vitally important. Most parents want a good education for their children but they also want them to be happy and to feel secure. At Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin we believe we can offer all these aims.

In our school we pride ourselves on the broad, balanced and full education we provide for our pupils. In addition to developing two languages, mathematical, creative and technological skills, your child will build confidence and self-reliance, and will learn to make decisions and develop the ability to articulate feelings and ideas. We place great importance on developing social skills in our children by helping them to build relationships with other children and adults. We encourage them to be sensitive towards the feelings and needs of others.

We can assure you that success and progress are the two important words in this school. The staff work diligently to ensure that every child reaches his / her full potential in a happy and challenging environment. We aim to develop each child's self-esteem, after all, if you feel successful then you will be successful!

Your contribution is all important in this whole process. We will aim to keep you informed about the way in which we work with your child. There will always be a welcome here for you should you feel the need to come and discuss your child's development and progress. Childhood, we sure you will agree, is a very special time.
