The school aims to provide opportunities for all our pupils regardless of their social background and academic ability. Boys and girls receive equal opportunities. We endeavour to promote positive attitudes towards language, race, disability, religion or any other groups identified as being in danger of suffering from disadvantage. This is a Church in Wales voluntary controlled school. It is a day, bilingual, coeducational school. Underpinning all other aims and objectives are the principles of The Church In Wales and in partnership with the Parish Church and the Bangor Diocese. The school aims to serve the local community by providing education of the highest standards in connection with faith and Christian customs and values.
Ysgol Maesincla is a natural Welsh school and both the staff and pupils are working hard to maintain the school’s Welsh ethos and atmosphere. None of you, whose children are part of a bilingual situation for the first time, should feel threatened or that you do not belong. Perhaps you do not speak Welsh (although many parents decide to learn the language) but we hope you will respect the linguistic environment that exists here - an environment that enriches so much in every sense the children’s learning experiences.
We respect your right to use the language you choose, and consequently, all correspondence sent out from the school will be bilingual. Appropriate opportunities are planned to teach English as a subject in Key Stage 2 with some early experiences in the third term of Year 2, whilst also ensuring opportunities to apply skills through the medium of English in foundation subjects.
