At Baby Home Nursery we strive to create a happy atmosphere where learning is fun. At Baby Home Nursery we will follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We will aim to follow the Teacher-Directed/Academic approach which has a structured philosophy, in which the teachers generally plan the daily activities, and then guide the children in carrying them out. The general idea of the academic approach is to help children adapt to the classroom setting, and to prepare them for later, more formal learning.

Elements of a Teacher-Directed/Academic Preschool

Development of communication and language gives children the opportunities they need to experience and be exposed to a multilingual environment. It aims to develop and enhance their confidence, as well as their communication skills to express themselves better, and to speak and listen in various situations

Physical development focuses on creating opportunities for children to be physically active and interactive, in order to improve their motor skill coordination, movement, and control. This area of development instils in children the importance of engaging in physical activities, and encourages them to choose healthy options in relation to food and diet.

Expressive arts and design provides children with a wealth of opportunities to explore, play and discover a broad variety of art materials and media, while providing them opportunities and encouragement to share their ideas, thoughts and feelings through various activities involving art, design, technology, music, dance, movement and role play.

Literacy development provides children with opportunities to learn how to associate sounds with letters and to start reading and writing. Children will have access to a wide selection of child-friendly reading materials such as books, stories, poems and other kind of print materials to stimulate their interest.

Mathematics provides children with opportunities to acquire and enhance their skills in counting, using and understanding numbers, as well as calculating basic addition and subtraction problems. This area also helps them learn about shapes, measures and spaces.

This area of development guides children in gaining awareness and understanding of their physical world and community by giving them opportunities to observe, explore and discover people, places, technologies and the environment.
