Xavier University is a co-educational Jesuit, Catholic university located in Norwood, an enclave of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. The school is the sixth-oldest Catholic and fourth-oldest Jesuit university in the nation. Xavier has an undergraduate enrollment of 4,485 students and graduate enrollment of 2,165. Xavier is primarily an undergraduate, liberal arts institution. Xavier University was the very first Catholic institution of higher learning in the Northwest Territory and is the fourth oldest Jesuit University and the sixth oldest Catholic university in the United States. The school was founded in 1831 as a men's college in downtown Cincinnati, adjacent to St. Francis Xavier Church on Sycamore Street. The Athenaeum, as it was then called, was dedicated to the patronage of Saint Francis Xavier by Bishop Edward Fenwick on October 17, 1831. Upon Bishop John Baptist Purcell's request.

My review is for admissions and undergraduate tour - incredibly welcoming, fantastic tour (best we've been on by far). You don't just see the outside of pretty buildings (although they are!), you get to go inside a dorm, dining hall, classroom buildings and the gym! It really gives you the ability to picture yourself at Xavier. The presentation is top notch, and everyone takes the time to get to know you as a person. We look forward to having a Musketeer in the house someday!

We had the opportunity to play in a basketball tournament at the Cintas Center in high school. Memorable experience and the coolest court I was ever able to play on!...Beautiful campus, gorgeous architecture with so much history! Excellent Jesuit education that teaches a person to evaluate and make informed decisions. Sound values based institution.

The racist acts of students and the universities response to them is a disgrace to a learning center such as yours. Showing leniency in such an atrocious act by students is showing agreement with those acts. ALL students involved must be expelled. Melanie Barton, the student donning black face must be expelled. The student that draped traditional African garb on a skeleton, then hung it in their window mimicking a lynching must follow her out the door. That student should be criminally charged for inciting violence. Anything less as a university is showing you align your principles with these acts.

My heart belongs to Xavier and I'm not so secretly wishing my son chooses to enroll there after he graduates next year. Xavier provides a well rounded quality education while challenging the student. My classes there forced me to think critically with a social conscience, and you don't find that at many schools. I had no difficulty getting into nor finishing grad school and I know it was because of my time at Xavier.

Very beautiful campus in a great city. Everyone seemed very friendly and welcoming. We visited several schools with my high school senior son, and he had the best experience at Xavier.

Got a couple master degrees at XU and I had the time of my life. Great academics, a very caring and welcoming faculty staff, small campus feeling, best hoops team in the world and always something positive to do on Friday and Saturday nights. Much more than only a place where to get a degree. They form complete persons.

This school has given me opportunities to learn, grow and explore in ways I never could have even imagined. Xavier is a wonderful school that has given me so much. I never experienced any discrimination while there, but I am also white. We need to acknowledge white privilege and respect the pain and struggles individuals have experienced as a part of a Jesuit Institution which is inherently based in white male privilege. While a student at Xavier, I was taught the Jesuit ideals of social justice, and I hope the community is able to utilize those ideals and work with people of color to create a community that is more inclusive and encompasses the values of all students, faculty, and alumni. These events are heartbreaking, but I hope that it creates awareness of a deeper problem which can engender change and growth.

During my 4 years at Xavier I was taught NOTHING by the faculty and staff other than to be a loving, accepting, kind and open person to absolutely every gender, race, religion, ethnicity, mindset, background, life, etc. Anyone who tries to make the argument that Xavier teaches its students anything other than diversity is beautiful and should be welcomed obviously does not have any idea what the Xavier tradition of "men and women for others" is truly about.

I understand how awful, inconsiderate, and completely unacceptable the incidents the past few days reflects on Xavier, but this small handful of people do not reflect the thousands of exemplary students and faculty that walk this campus every single day.

Xavier is an amazing school that gives its students so many opportunities. I am certain that the low reviews all have to deal with the blatant racism expressed by one student on social media, and to those giving the bad reviews I would just like to say that I agree that is horrible, however, one student's actions (or a few if you are talking about the skeleton too) does not represent the university as a whole. I love attending Xavier and I do not believe that the university should be painted in a negative light for the actions that we all agree were horrendous and are being dealt with by the university.

When your mascot is a Musketeer, you know this school will hold wonders. You will never be without a friend at this school and your education on top of that will be given by the utmost incredible professors and staff. You don't have to be religious to fit in at Xavier because everyone, no matter what gender, culture, sexuality, religion or lack there of is more than accepted, it's celebrated. Xavier will use that emotion to help foster an environment where all students are treated with both justice and equality. For those who have said that they believe the Xavier community allows for racism to proliferate have truly never experienced the fellowship the staff offers on a daily basis. They understand that sometimes the most important issues of our day are not always the easiest to talk about, including race. I love this place more than I think I could ever put into words. My last three and a half years at Xavier have been full of nothing but love + inclusivity. While one student's gross actions are disappointing + enraging (to say the least!), this does not, in any way, shape, or form, reflect the rest of this amazing institution. Though various experiences at Xavier like Alternative Breaks, Community Action Day, and anything with the Center for Faith + Justice or the Center for Diversity + Inclusion I have learned what it truly means to be a woman for + with others. Being quick to point fingers + putting a blanket claim on the rest of the Xavier family does nothing to encourage open dialogues OR any forms of acceptance of one another's differences. I have full faith that the university will handle whatever consequences this student will face swiftly + justly. It's on US to make sure that we continue to create a community where all feel welcomed + accepted. Let's continue to show the rest of the world why we are so proud to call ourselves Xavier Musketeers.

During my four years at X, the idea of cura personalis, or love for people was taught extensively. I would not have chosen another school. These times are troubling to hear as a member of the alumni but it is in no reflection of what is taught at this institution of higher learning. Xavier allows its students to grow into well rounded intellectual individuals with an emphasis on Jesuit philosophies. It is unfair to base its population on actions performed by individuals who do not represent these qualities. While there has not been a statement on how the racial gestures will be handled, it is a great feeling knowing that the community, from Xavier's students to its president, Father Graham, has a sense of solidarity and are taking actions to heal the affected groups while also allowing members of the community to be heard. No, Xavier is not perfect, but I know that the people at Xavier University have the fight and ambition to restrict tolerance towards discriminatory behavior. We will continue to fight for justice, learn from the situation at hand, and strengthen the community we resonate with.

I owe a lot of what I have become to the short time I have spent at Xavier. I'm involved in a few clubs that explain diversity and practice inclusion, and I have learned so much about various cultures, traditions, and collaboration initiatives since I have been here. The actions of a couple disrespectful students do not, whatsoever, reflect the university as a whole. I have been taught (and teach others) that stereotyping and discrimination are not tolerated and not appropriate, no matter what the situation is. I believe that any stereotyping of the entire student body based on a few students' actions would not be appropriate as well. I have met some of the nicest and most caring people I know here, and it is amazing to see what the university is doing to combat the issue of racism and microaggressions. I still stand by my belief that Xavier is a university of integrity, community, collaboration, and love; we are addressing this issue together and continuing to stand by one another, no matter where we come from or where we're going. All for One and One for All.

My Xavier experience has fostered an environment of compassion, inspiration, and education. I am a senior and I cannot thank Xavier enough for challenging my beliefs, educating me on social justice issues, encouraging respectful dialogue among students, offering immersive opportunities such as Alternative Breaks, Dorothy Day Immersions, and the Summer Service Internship, all of which challenge systemic injustice and oppressive institutions, and providing a number of opportunities to stand in solidarity with Syrian refugees, the students of Mizzou, the LGBTQ community, #BlackLivesMatter, among many others. Honestly, although I live in Cincinnati - very close to Xavier, I attend a different school. However, I know plenty of diverse individuals of diverse backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and educational roots who are products of this fine institution. I have always loved Xavier and everything for which it stands. Additionally, as a member of Winter Guard International, I will always feel grateful to have had the amazing opportunity to perform in The Cintas Center. Everyone - students and staff/security, alike - who aided in the facilitation of such a large scale event was nothing short of welcoming, accepting, and supportive. As a Communication Major, I've learned the actions of one or a few literally do not define or represent the Ethos, Pathos, and Logos of an entire student body nor the institution's faculty and staff. Every human on Earth has one, singular, individualistic, physical brain. Therefore, an individual is responsible for their actions in regards to how they choose to represent themselves and their apparent beliefs. The choice by others to act in what are referred to as "bandwagon" fashions is, once again, made by an individual who in turn becomes a part of an "in-group" in their mind versus remaining as part of an "out-group". As a Multiracial individual, I am certainly not excusing this incident. However, I do believe this incident should raise awareness to all students around the world: Think before you act. Your judgments and choices can easily place an entire community in jeopardy. You may not have intended for that to be a result, but it is absolutely a reality that is not meant to be taken lightly by any student and/or adult who defines themselves as "mature" and "well-rounded". I am, and always will be, more than willing to stand behind the Muskie Community.

I understand fully that everyone has a different experience, and while some will love Xavier, others will not. However, Xavier has been instrumental in challenging me to seek out how I can be fulfilled and help others be fulfilled as well. Xavier has also taught me what it means to stand in solidarity with my fellow students and community. I would not be who I am today if it weren't for Xavier. I would not have had the opportunities I've had if it weren't for Xavier. Fundamentally, I believe Xavier does its best to cultivate an inclusive community that challenges students to grow and learn. Xavier is a place that teaches you to fight for the change you want to see in the world whether it's on campus internally or externally in the world. It teaches you be open minded while still standing your ground. Just like many other places, it is not perfect. Some mistakes made but it does not reflect Xavier as a whole. Xavier was a fantastic school and was one of the best experiences of my life, although it was certainly more expensive than it needed to be. I was very active in Navigators, theatre, Alternative Breaks, Editor-in-Chief of the Newswire, cashier at Ryan's Pub, and Husman Hall RA during my time there, as well as briefly playing for the club ultimate frisbee team. Throughout my interactions in all of those very different groups and organizations, I never felt, saw, or experienced any form of racism based on gender, race, or sexual orientation. Everyone was very welcoming and embraced everyone's differences. It pains me to see the university being judged as an entire body for the actions of one or two people. It is unfortunate those students chose the actions they did, but the university is not at fault, as they teach acceptance for all people.

I consider myself a very proud alum of this school for a variety of reasons. The academics are not only challenging but very rewarding in terms of what you get out of them as a student. You are pushed out of your comfort zone and learn to look at things outside the box and you learn how to use critical thinking and creativity to solve problems not only in the classroom but in everyday real world situations. The professors are extremely intelligent, approachable, and want to see their students succeed. Some of the smartest, friendliest, and down-to-earth people I have met in my life went to school with me at Xavier, and I have made friendships and relationships with both peers and professors that will last a lifetime. School spirit and pride are an all-time high on campus as not only do our athletic programs achieve national success, but students also demonstrate school spirit because they are genuinely proud to call themselves Xavier students. When you graduate from here you will feel prepared for an ever-changing society and learn to not only challenge yourself but will understand the value of serving as a beneficial member of society no matter where life leads you. If I could do it all over again, I would choose Xavier in a heartbeat because it exemplifies a college experience and a Jesuit education to the utmost degree.

Blatant Racism exist here... You have have students doing black face on social media with no action taken among other things you do to single out the African American students on campus and make them feel less than welcomed. Xavier university is supposed to be better than this it's 2016/2017 maybe Trump funds you guys who knows but whatever it is this college needs to get it together diversity is what makes America great! I absolutely love my school and am 100% proud to call myself a Musketeer. I have never felt more welcome than when I am here. I'm appalled at the news regarding these bias related incidents, and I believe the University will handle them in the right manner. That being said, the actions of a few individuals do not reflect the entire culture here at Xavier. There really are amazing people who strive to fulfill Xavier's mission of being for and with others every day. I visited Xavier's campus one night on a whim as I had stopped at the Graeter's on campus for some ice cream while spending the weekend in Cincy, and I was blown away with the architecture and overall design of the campus. The landscape is very hilly, and the campus is designed in such a way where it capitalizes on the uniqueness of the terrain. The buildings are beautiful as well. Really cool experience for me to take a walk on campus!
