Brock research has a heart for community and a head for innovation. Our passion drives us to discover, disseminate, and apply new knowledge. Improving quality of life through leading-edge research and scholarship is what we’re all about. We are heavily invested in the economic, social and cultural health of our community and beyond. Scores of partnerships between the community and all faculties within the University make research a two-way process: we learn from one another as we discover and innovate together.

We are very proud of the research that Faculties and departments generate at Brock and the contributions that our researchers make to society. Here, we give an overview of our research themes and provide a few highlights of the innovative and creative work being done all across the University. Please visit our Faculty and department pages for more information and further examples of our research.

We help grow Niagara’s economic and social life, particularly through our internationally-renowned grape and wine research and through our community think-tank. Our brain and behaviour research gives us a deeper understanding of all stages of human development, especially with our children and adolescents. The results of our health and well-being research range from international breakthroughs to fitness programs for seniors and people living with disabilities. Our scientists work with plants to create products and process used in green chemistry and anti-cancer drugs, among others. Research on our natural environment gives us clues to tackling climate change, water governance and even life on Mars!

Brock University has been a transformative experience for my daughter; the dedicated faculty truly care, and it’s inspiring to witness her academic growth in such a dynamic environment.

I was at Brock from 2003-2008. My parents forced me to go, and I had zero interest in the school to begin with. It was the hardest 5 years of my life. I cant recommend this school for several reasons: The city is a rundown, boring, depressing place. There is very little do to. If you are going to spend the money, live somewhere that actually offers a decent lifestyle and some unique experiences. The programs: Many of the programs are money grabs with no real path towards a real career. I was in the co-op accounting program and it was a program that was built to fail people. It was terrible. It might be ranked high by employers but as a student I would say stay away from this program. This program has a good reputation (somehow), but as a student it was a nightmare. Lack of support: As the first generation of my family going to University I didn't get any real help with my struggles at the school (which were many). Finding tutors was very hard. The mental health counselors will see you once or twice, do their best to keep you in the school, and then tell you they are not there to counsel on a continual basis. Living on campus was ok until I realized that some of the Dons don't care about the rules being enforced equally at all. I was given a drug laced drink and there were no consequences for the people who drugged me. It was unbelievable. The only pro I can say of my 5 years at Brock were the handful of friends I made. Other than that it was a complete waste of money, time, and effort. If I could go back in time, I would have never went here.

Just so bland in every way possible, same goes for the city of St Catharines. So sad that I wasted my university experience here.

While the people at the University are, for the most part, great (though I've had my share of professors that make me question why becoming a professor doesn't have any barriers for those who lack the ability to teach, as knowledge alone isn't enough to be a good teacher), the organization itself is a pinnacle of greed rather than learning. With fees ranging from having to pay to graduate, order transcripts, overpriced textbooks that get used only once or twice, proof of enrollment, various hidden fees, and many other micro-transactions on top of tuition, my original view of Brock as a place for education has shifted as I've come to the realization that this is an business (rather than a school) that places monetary gain first and foremost. Overall, I would not recommend Brock University to anyone interested in learning - it's core tenet is not education. If you have money to burn, however, I'm sure you'll be happily accepted with open arms.

Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula. Great programs and excellent academics.

I attended a conference here during the summer months. The campus was small and easy to navigate. The rooms worked for our conference sessions but they were a little outdated in terms of the furniture and decorations. I stayed at the Arnie Lowenberger Residence which was very low-frills and not all that comfortable. The room was a little dark and the bed quite uncomfortable. The dining hall had good food, and I was able to find a number of veg options.

The worst educational experience of a lifetime. I wouldn’t recommend this university to anyone at all. Completely disorganized with zero interest in student and only cares about money. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!!

I've seen a lot of very positive reviews here on Brock and a lot of very negative ones as well. Your best bet is to come to Open House and see if maybe you can just drop in to a lecture to see what it is like. I know I had some awesome classes in Geography, English, Drama and Philosophy. My son did very well with the Computer Science and Mathematics Departments. I can't really say what courses may be like in other subjects. What does concern me, though, is how Brock wants to expand their property on Lockhart Drive threatening an eco-sensitive area just below the Escarpment, that Brock wants to sell off a beautiful gem of a historical building, Rodman Hall, for private use, and that some students become disrespectful hooligans in residential areas on St.Paddy's Day. I'll try, however, to remember what was so inspiring at Brock.
