4 Ways to Extend UAE Visit Visa (2025)

For tourists who would like to stay here in the UAE for more than 14 days, you have to apply for a UAE Visit Visa. Under this category falls family visa and business visits. First and foremost requirement is to have a sponsor who’s any of the following:

1. UAE Resident
2. Company
3. Hotel licensed to operate in the UAE

The sponsor will pay for the renewable fee of AED 2000. The UAE Visit visa is valid for 6 days and could be extended for 90 days. A renewal fee of AED 500 is required.

What’s the difference between UAE Tourist Visa and Visit Visa?

The validity of tourist visa is 30 days while visit visa is 90 days. Tourist visa can’t be extended. For those who are residents of the following countries: East and West Europe, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine, Albania, Russia, the Hellenic Republic, St Kitts-Navis, St Lucia, Mexico, Cuba, Bermuda, Belize, Guyana, French Guiana, Martinique, Antigua and Barbuda, St Vincent, Jamaica, Palao other non-defined American nationalities, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore, China, Malta, Cyprus, they can get their own tourist visa with 10 AED fee for delivery.

If you exceed the last day of visa renewal, you will be fined 100 AED. It is best to renew your visa before the due date to avoid paying penalty fees. However, tourist visa holders are only allowed to renew twice, for maximum 60 days stay. If you want to renew it again, you have to go back to the country of origin and return after one month.

How to Secure a Visa in the UAE

It is imperative to secure a visa in the UAE before you plan on visiting the country. You should have a valid passport for at least 6 months. As of 29 April 2016, residents of GCC countries will have to apply for a UAE visa before visiting Dubai.

Indian nationals holding a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months from the arrival date,as well as those with green card issued by the USA (valid for 6 months) can get a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days. There will be a fee of 120 AED . Indian and US residents can extend their visit visa for up to 14 days for 250 AED .

Where can I renew my visit visa?

Note that you can only renew your visit visa for two times maximum. You will have a maximum of 60 days extension. If you happen to extend the visa on the last day, you will have to pay a fee of 100 AED. Therefore, you need to make sure you have renewed your visa even before it expires.

Citizens of Australia, Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America, United Kingdom, and the Vatican can get free visa-on-arrival with 30 days validity, which can only be renewed once.

You can renew your visit visa in the immigration office without leaving the country. A fee of 500 AED will be collected to extend the visa.
Recently, the process of extending the visa has become easier. The current option for those who want to change their visa is airport to airport visa change. This new rule is applicable for all types of entry visa: transit visas, short-term (one month) and long-term visit (90 days) visas, student visas, visas for medical treatment and residence visas.

To avoid violations, companies and visitors should still comply to the applications and transactions before expiry date of the visa.

How to renew your visit visa in Dubai?

1. Visit the DNRD office
You can visit the Department of Naturalization & Residency and pay 500 AED if you want to renew Dubai visit visa but doesn’t want to leave United Arab Emirates.

2. Visa Run
You can leave and return to UAE by booking a Visa Run. You can do these at any point from Dubai, Sharjah, or Abu Dhabi to Muscat (Oman), Bahrain, Doha (Qatar) or Kish Island.

3. Visa Flight
If you wish to renew your visa by flight, expect that it will cost you 500 – 100 AED for the flight, excluding visa charges. Once you’ve landed, enter the departure terminal at the airport. No need t exit the airport, just take a flight back to UAE. After the flight, you can go to Dubai airport and get a new visit visa valid for 30 days or 60 days.

4. Drive over to the border
How to do this? First, you need to get an exit stamp from the border. Get back in the car and drive to Oman border control. You need to keep the ticket they hand over safely. You need to present it when you go back to UAE. Then, you need to go to the immigration office to get an entry stamp and new visa. You need to pay 60 AED and obtain exit stamp for Oman. Lastly, drive back to UAE border and get new entry stamp and visa.

It will only take you between 3 and 4 hours approximately. Try to avoid holidays and weekends because too many people travel between Oman and UAE.
