New Year’s Day
New Year’s Day (January 1) is celebrated in Thailand and in all parts of the world. It marks the first day of the Gregorian calendar.
Chinese New Year
Fourteen per cent of Thailand’s population are Chinese. The Chinese New Year holiday is celebrated all throughout the country, especially in Bangkok.
Makha Bucha Day
Makha Bucha is an important Buddhist holiday that falls on the full moon day of the 3rd lunar month.
Chakri Day
The Royal family in Thailand hails from the Chakri dynasty. This holiday celebrates the reign of the Chakri dynasty in Thailand.
Songkran Festival
Songkran Festival is considered the Thai New Year and is a national holiday. It is one of the biggest festivals in Thailand which draws millions of tourists every year. The celebrations include water fights and other events.
Labor Day
Labor Day occurs on May 1 in almost all countries, including Thailand.
Royal Ploughing Ceremony
This festival marks the start of the harvest season.
Visakha Bucha Day
This festival marks the three most important events in Buddha’s life – his birth, his enlightenment, and death.
Asahna Bucha Day
This day remembers the four noble truths of Buddhism. These four truths were preached by Buddha in his first sermon.
King Vajiralongkorn’s Birthday
This marks King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s birthday. He is the King of Thailand since 2016.
Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday
This holiday marks the birthday of Queen Sirikit, the reigning Queen Mother of Thailand.
Passing of His Majesty the Late King
King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand died at the age of 88, on 13 October 2016. This commemorates his death anniversary
Chulalongkorn Memorial Day
This holiday marks “King Chulalongkorn Day” or known in Thai as “Wan Piyamaharaj Day”.
His Majesty the Late King’s Birthday
The Late King’s Birthday falls on December 5th and is celebrated as a holiday in honor of the Late King.
Constitution Day
This holiday is held every 10th of December and in honor of Thailand’s adoption of a constitutional monarchy in 1932.
Christmas Day
Christmas Day is also a major holiday in Thailand which is celebrated every 25th of December, marking the birth of Jesus.
