Salma and her family moved from Switzerland to Dubai when she was 3 years old. At the age of 3, she started swimming and playing piano. When she turned 5, she took things up a notch and started ice skating for 20 hours a week and attended 4 hours of artistic gymnastics.
By the time she was 6, she had a fully dedicated and passionate violin practice with EYSO – Prague Music Conservatory. Her commitment did not go unnoticed so when she turned 7 she started rhythmic gymnastics with DuGym at a recreational level; she finished level 1 and 2, got her gold certificate and moved up really quickly to the academic level.
Today, Salma is 10 years old and she is focusing on her rhythmic gymnastics. She has enrolled in an academic programme that requires her to train 6 days a week (26 hours) but also allows her to participate in national and international competitions.

She’s also a remarkable violin player and has won several prizes and recognitions. For two years in a row, she won the 2nd prize at the Emirates Peace Music Competition (formerly known as GCC Competition).
Salma is a dedicated and determined child who focuses on making the right choices. She loves what she does. Therefore, she believes she is not sacrificing anything but rather finding the right time to do everything she loves.
“As parents, we love to see her enjoying what she is passionate about. It is a priceless pleasure to watch her routines and to listen to her playing violin. We feel the notes start having a different meaning and her gymnastics routines are full of emotion. It is a true joy to watch her! We strongly believe kids who are committed to sports or the arts become responsible, disciplined, and successful. It is a great pleasure to do whatever it takes for our ‘resilient princess’ to make her dreams come true.” – Elif Schild, Salma’s Mother

“My dream is to join the Rythmic Gymnastics team of the Swiss Federation. Mr. Duncan, Head of Physical Health Education at the Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai, has been accommodating training times at lunch breaks and this allowed me to further deepen my practice. Mr. Findlay and Mrs. Brew from SISD’s music department have been helping me tremendously and have been supporting me in every way they can.” – Salma Schild
“Salma is a talented and dedicated student. At Swiss International Scientific School, we believe that all students require support to achieve their full potential, thus it is important that their school empowers them.” – Brian Nolan, Primary School Deputy Head
