British International School Moscow (BIS)

At present BIS consists of 7 schools located in different areas of the City of Moscow. More than 1000 children of 65 nationalities, aged from 3 to 18 years study in the school. The programme in 6 BIS schools is based upon the English National Curriculum. These schools are staffed by highly qualified specialists from the United Kingdom and other English speaking countries.

Students who attend the British International School have the opportunity to gain a first class international education which will enable them to pursue their academic careers in higher level academic institutions not only in the United Kingdom but in very many parts of the world. All students graduate from BIS with internationally recognized academic certificates and diplomas.

Apart from the British Department there is a Russian Department in BIS (Prof Soyuznaya Metro Stations) for children aged from 1,5 to 18 years, where teaching is conducted in accordance with the Russian Federal state educational standards. Teaching of foreign languages is carried out by Russian teachers and native speakers.

Graduates of the Russian Department are fluent in English, successfully pass the Unified State Exam, obtain Russian Certificate of Full Secondary Education and can continue their studies in prestigious educational institutions in Russia and abroad.

Since the school’s inception our priorities have been upon the highest academic achievements and the development of a confident, well rounded and creative student body. In Primary school, teaching is based on the English National Curriculum and is common to all our schools. The curriculum provides a broad range of educational subjects. Established in the school environment of care and support promotes personal, social and emotional development of children, their independence and desire for new knowledge.

For the children aged from 14 to 16 years old (Years 10 and 11) we offer a curriculum approved by the University of Cambridge, leading to the award of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) which is the world’s most popular and recognized international qualification. Over 2,500 schools worldwide teach it, including more than 600 in the UK.

There is also the Russian Department in BIS (Profsoyuznaya Metro Station), where teaching is conducted in accordance with the Federal state educational standards and fully meets the requirements for the implementation of the Federal Law «On Education in the Russian Federation».
