Dubai, UAE: Set to open its third branch in the UAE in Dubai this September, Brighton College Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of its first faculty members, which form the school’s College Leadership Team.
With a wealth of international teaching experience and expertise in launching established schools in global markets, the newly appointed faculty includes Barry Cooper, Deputy Head of Academic, Clare Leask, Head of Early Years, Joe Donaghey, Head of Lower School, and Katy Cooke as Head of Year One and Two. These colleagues join Marco Longmore, Head Master and Sarah Brannon, Head of Prep School who have been in Dubai since September 2017 and January 2018 respectively.

After three years as Housemaster of The Wellesley and Head of History at Wellington College Shanghai, and following a successful career at leading British boarding schools including Loretto and Epsom College, Barry Cooper joins Brighton College Dubai as Deputy Head Academic.
Barry’s experience includes many senior teaching roles including Director of Studies, Director of Marketing and Admissions, Housemaster and Head of Department, and a History specialist. Barry has also taught English, Politics, Classics and Philosophy. Educated at Dartford Grammar School in the UK, Barry went on to read History at St Andrews, followed by a Master’s Degree at the University of Stirling.
Clare Leask, Head of Early Years
An expert in Early Years education, Clare Leask joins Brighton College Dubai after being an integral member of the start-up team at Brighton College Bangkok.
Having previously led faculty teams internationally, Clare began her teaching Bangkok career in South East London where she spent five years at an outstanding rated school. Clare then took her experience abroad and moved to the British School Jakarta and then to the Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok.
Clare’s passion lies in creating an enabling and nurturing environment where children can develop a love of learning through innovative and creative activities, planned from the interests and curiosities of the individual child.
Joe Donaghey, Assistant Head (Lower School)
Joe Donaghey joins Brighton College Dubai as Assistant Head (Lower School) after his role as senior leader in a KHDA outstanding rated school. Joe aims to create a culture of learning and achievement centred around the individual and will draw on his experience of previously launching a school in Dubai to build this in to the ethos of Brighton College Dubai. With a background in Computer Engineering, Joe is keen to utilise technology in his teaching methods in order to enable creativity and facilitate innovation and critical thinking.
Katy Cooke, Head of Year One and Year Two
Katy Cooke joins Brighton College Dubai after five years as Head of Reception at Dulwich Prep School in London, UK and two years at NGO Jay Pritzker Academy in Cambodia, where she helped set up and run two pre-kindergarten classes for children whom education previously had not been available to.
Educated at Birmingham City University and gaining a First-Class Honors degree in Primary Education with QTS, Katy is a passionate and nurturing educator who has a wealth of knowledge about the UK prep school system, which will make her an invaluable member to the head teacher team at Brighton College Dubai.
