British School Jakarta

A very warm welcome to the British School Jakarta (BSJ) in the beautiful country of Indonesia. BSJ was founded in 1974 with support from the British Embassy to educate the British and Commonwealth families living in Jakarta. Today, we remain a community of families, now comprised of more than fifty nationalities, that includes many from Indonesia, with students from the ages of 3 - 18.

Located in South West Jakarta, BSJ has a beautiful 44-acre campus that has been specifically designed to enrich the academic life of all of our students. From the classrooms and community spaces in Primary to the specialist classrooms in Secondary, staff and students together are able to enjoy high-quality teaching and learning. In addition to these academic facilities, we have a large theatre, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and football pitches on campus to provide multiple opportunities for students to have an enriched experience at the school. In 2018, we completed our new sports hall, which is of national standard specifications.

Our curriculum is compatible with both British and international education systems, which allows students to have a truly multi-layered learning experience, from inquiry-based learning in Primary and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), through to IB MYP, (i)GCSE’s and the IB Diploma and Careers Programmes, where our results in both are consistently above the world average.

The philosophy at BSJ is to provide an education to meet the needs of our students now and to equip them to partake in the opportunities of the future.
