Founded in 1954, École Jeannine Manuel is a French international and bilingual school. The school’s mission has remained the same since its creation to promote international understanding through the bilingual education of a multicultural community of students. Find out more about who we are, our history, our diplomas, and our different campuses in Paris, Lille and London.
As a French bilingual and international institution, our school occupies a unique position in the landscape of international schools in France.
École Jeannine Manuel has been under contract with the French state for over 60 years. The school follows the French national curriculum with the exception of the English, Science, and Chinese programs, which are unique to École Jeannine Manuel.
Our identity as a French-English bilingual school forms the central pillar of our school’s approach. We define bilingualism as the ability to express oneself in French or in English, orally or in writing, with native ease and compelling effectiveness. The school achieves this by providing students with rigorous and innovating language teaching, as well as with a complete cultural immersion. All of our teachers are either native French or English speakers, and a significant part of the student body have either French or English as their mother tongue.
With students of 80 different nationalities representing every major culture and religious tradition, our school is a truly international and multicultural community. École Jeannine Manuel was one of the first UNESCO associated schools and among the first International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools du Baccalauréat International (IB). We are also an accredited Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) school since 2014. Both are markers of excellence in teaching and international recognition.
Students finish their secondary studies by either sitting the French Baccalaureate exam with an international option (OIB) or the International Baccalaureate (IB), two diplomas recognized by prestigious universities around the world. Each year, our students achieve excellent results that testify to their hard work.
Preparing our students for higher education is one of our priorities at École Jeannine Manuel. Our goal is to give students the skills necessary to study (and eventually work) wherever they wish.
At École Jeannine Manuel, we encourage our students to encourage our students to start thinking about their chosen course and country of study as early as possible. As early as 9th-grade, our students and their parents have the opportunity of attending information sessions on different higher education pathways.
Our dedicated team of advisors provide students with all the guidance they need to make informed choices. The College Counseling & University Counseling team advise students who wish to study in the USA, UK, Canada or elsewhere in the world on the best options available to them. The heads of the French baccalaureate classes advise and provide guidance to those who wish to study in France.
Learning is also social and emotional. It involves forging one’s identity and relationships with others, valuing our differences and what we all share, and becoming ready to play a part in the world.
The safety and wellbeing of our students is primordial to all of us at École Jeannine Manuel. Alongside concrete security measures that protect and look after our students while they are on campus, our school also puts in place policies and programs that ensure their physical and mental wellbeing.
