The English Modern School is a privately owned school that offers an international curriculum to over 3000 students on four different campuses (Al Khor, Doha, Al Wakra). The English Modern School network are co-educational schools for students aged 3 to 18, representing over 55 nationalities. All schools follow the Cambridge International Curriculum in their Primary and Secondary divisions.
At English Modern School, we embrace internationalism through acceptance of differences, values, and beliefs in our community. This is emulated through our Cambridge Learner Attributes (CLAs).
At EMS, students are admitted to EMS regardless of race, gender, nationality or religion provided they meet all the admission requirements. Online applications for admission are accepted throughout the year.
(Online applications for this Year will be accepted as of 9th of January.).
(The applications submitted of last year will not be moved to this year, parents are requested to re-apply.).
If a vacancy becomes available, the admission office will schedule admission assessment dates for applicants selected on a first-come first-serve basis with the following priorities:
Once a student has been accepted, parents will be able to proceed with the registration process. Enrolment to the school is not considered final until the registration fee, school fees and all documentation have been received.
KG1, KG2
Applicants will be observed either by a face-to-face interview or remotely by using the learning platform “Seesaw”. The interviews will be held during the month of March/April.
Year 1 & Year 2
Students applying to Year 1 and Year 2 will be assessed either by conducting a face-to-face interview or remotely using google meet or Zoom call. The assessment will be held once a seat becomes available.
Year 3 to Year 10
Students applying to Year 3 to Year 10 will be assessed in English and Mathematics by using an online assessment platform. The assessment will be conducted online via Google Meet or in the school premises.
Entry to Year 11
Since the IGCSE programme is a two-year programme, we are hesitant to accept any student for Year 11. However, some exceptions are made after interviews are conducted with the secondary School Principal and reports of subjects taken in other schools in Year 10 are evaluated; in such instances, the candidate might be required to sit for assessments in all subjects opted for.
Entry to Year 12
The AS Level programme is an advanced course of study. Acceptance into this programme is dependent upon the student scoring a minimum of a “C” grade or higher in 5 subjects taken at IGCSE (Year 11) level from an external accredited examination board(s).
Please note that we usually do not admit students for entry to Year 11 or Year 12 if the student is coming from a different program, as this is at the midway point in a two-year examination syllabus IGCSE and AS Programmes.
Entry to Year 13
The minimum entry requirements to Year 13 are as follows:
Places in Year 13 will be very limited and are subject to spaces available in the subjects being studied and will be allocated in accordance with the waiting list and over subscription criteria.
Admission Assessment results will be emailed to parents a week after the completion of the assessment.
