How to Apply

We make every effort to ensure the admissions process is as easy as possible. What we need to do is actually rather simple — get to know one another and decide if we're a good fit. Here's how to get started.

Apply Online

All applicants are required to apply using SSAT's Standard Application Online (SAO) by first creating an online account at www.ssat.org. The SAO simplifies the process by allowing you to fill out one application and obtain one set of teacher recommendations/ transcripts which can be used to apply to other SSAT member schools. Solebury School’s code number for the SAO is 7390. You will be able to self‐track all admission documents and view the status of your application.

The required items will need to be completed on the SAO online application:

• The application, including the nonrefundable application fee
• Your personal statements
• Parental Questionnaire
• Our Preliminary Health Report, which can be found as the supplemental item on the SAO
• The required school recommendation forms, which can be sent via your online SSAT account to your current school administrator/counselor, English, and Math teacher
• The last three years of your school report cards (the previous two years, plus the current year’s grades to date), and/or transcript which should be uploaded to the SAO

The following testing should be sent to us by the appropriate testing service or by you:

• SSAT Scores – Solebury School requires applicants to submit an SSAT score. You can register for this at www.ssat.org. Whether you are from a school that does a lot of standardized testing or one where they are not emphasized, don’t worry. Do your best. This is just one of many things we will use to get to know you. Middle School applicants only need to take the SSAT if they are applying for the Trustees’ Merit Scholarship Program. (Please note: Merit Scholarships are for domestic students only.)
• If you are applying for the Learning Skills program, you do not have to take the SSAT, because you will have to submit psycho‐educational testing instead. The exception to this is if you are also applying for the Merit Scholarship Program. The comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation (WISC-IV) will need to be completed by a licensed psychologist within the last two years. The testing should assess the student in the following areas: intellectual ability, information processing, learning styles, academic achievement, and social and emotional adjustment. After this testing, along with current grades and IEP, is reviewed, the student may be invited to sit for an evaluation. There is a $150 fee for the evaluation.

Students applying to Solebury School are also welcome to use The Association of Boarding School (TABS) Common Application.

If you are an International Student...

In addition to using SSAT's Standard Application Online (SAO) as described above, please review Navigating the Admissions Process for step-by-step instructions on applying to Solebury as an international student.

Please note: International Students do not have to take the SSAT mentioned above, but are required to submit the results of a TOEFL, TOEFL Junior, IELTS, or ISEE. (You can register online to take the TOEFL test.) Check their calendars for specific test dates. TOEFL test scores should be submitted directly to our school from the testing center using the TOEFL code: 9695.

Application Deadline

• If you are applying for the Merit Scholarship, all application materials should be submitted to Solebury School by January 15. Applicants will be notified of our admission decision in February. (Please note: Merit Scholarships are for domestic students only.)
• Candidates applying for regular admission should submit all materials by January 15 for day students and February 1 for boarding students. These applicants will be notified of our admission decision the week of March 10.
• After March 10, applications and decisions will be reviewed based on availability.

Factors Influencing Admission Decisions

All Solebury School application materials are examined to give us a complete picture of the student. Decisions are made based on the candidate's potential for success at Solebury School academically, artistically, athletically, as well as the candidate's potential to contribute to the school community.
