As a St. Timothy’s student, you’ll fill those minutes doing science and reading Gatsby and learning Chinese. You’ll fill them playing goalie on the soccer team and starring in the play and making friends for life. You’ll fill them expanding your mind, opening your heart, filling your soul. You’ll fill them painting your face red, or green. And then you’ll do it all over again.
Step 1: Schedule a Visit
We invite you and your family to visit St. Timothy's beautiful 145-acre historic campus in Stevenson, Maryland. We also encourage you to take a campus tour, meet with our admissions staff, and talk to our students and faculty. We welcome you to our athletics events and equestrian center as well as to our dance and theater performances and wonderful St. Timothy's School traditions..
Step 2: Ways to Apply
Apply through one of the options below:
Step 3: Testing
Applicants should submit the results of the SSAT or ISEE exam. SSAT registration information is available at www.ssat.org (St.Timothy’s school code 6994); registration for the ISEE may be found at www.erblearn.org (St. Timothy’s school code 210990).
Candidates for grades 11 and 12 may submit the results of the PSAT, SAT, or ACT in lieu of the SSAT or ISEE.
Students for whom English is a second language are required to take the TOEFL or TOEFL Jr. (Test of English as a Foreign Language; www.ets.org, St. Timothy’s code 8143) in addition to the SSAT. Please contact the Admissions Office if the TOEFL is not available in your area.
Step 4: Recommendations
Recommendations are required from the following: your current English teacher, math teacher, and principal, advisor, or guidance counselor. There is also an optional form for applicants who would like to ask a favorite teacher for a recommendation.
Step 5: Transcripts
Please submit transcripts from the current school year as well as the previous two school years. If you have changed schools, please send transcripts from all institutions.
Step 6: Character Skills Snapshot
Character and personal growth are an integral part of a St. Timothy's education. Grades and test scores just don't tell us the whole story of your child. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information and illuminates areas where St. Timothy's can help your child grow.
While the Character Skills Snapshot is currently optional we do recommend all applicants take it. For students who take the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot. Once you register for the SSAT, you will have access to The Snapshot.
Students without the SSAT will need to contact St. Timothy's Admissions Office in order to gain access to The Snapshot. There is a $25 fee. Fee waivers are available for those in need. Please contact Jill Medina, Director of Enrollment Management, at [email protected], to request.
Step 7: Financial Aid
For more information on the financial aid process, including forms and FAQ's visit our Financial Aid page.
Early Decision is the process in which students make a commitment to a first-choice institution where, if admitted, they will enroll. Students may apply to other institutions, but may only have one Early Decision application pending at any time. If you are accepted under St. Timothy's Early Decision plan, you must promptly withdraw other applications, make no new applications, and agree to attend St. Timothy's School.
Rolling Admissions offers students the most broad timeline in which to apply. Once the application is complete, you will receive your decision. This means that there is no deadline and it is not binding. To reserve your space you must contract and deposit by due date on contract.
