Choosing a school is like choosing a home; it has to feel right. We are proud of our warm and friendly atmosphere. At the ages of 3-16, our role as a school is to work with parents to encourage and nurture children so that they reach the very limits of their abilities. Likewise, in the Sixth Form, we advocate less formal teacher-pupil relationships, helping students to find themselves, accept responsibility and achieve their individual aspirations.
Pupils join the Nursery in the term after their third birthday.
Pupils may join the Nursery for a minimum of two full days per week up to full time. The number of days can be increased during the course of the year. The exact arrangements can be discussed prior to joining and will depend very much on each individual child and their ability to cope with the academic and social demands of school.
In the term prior to joining you and your child will be invited to attend a taster session as an introduction to school life, during which you will be able to discuss your child’s needs with the staff.
Informal Guided Tours
Informal guided tours of our Nursery are available with our EYFS Coordinator, Kate Williams. For more information, please contact the Head’s PA and Prep Admissions, Mrs Simone Weston on 01872 243 120 or email prepadmissions@truroschool.com

For Pupils Aged 4 to 7 (Reception, Years 1 and 2)
Admission is based on a Taster Day during which the class teacher will assess the child at an informal level.
For Pupils Aged 7 to 11 (Years 3 to 6)
Entry is based on assessments in English and Mathematics. These are designed to be done on-site and no specific preparation is required or recommended. Pupils are invited to spend the day at the school, usually undertaking the tests in the morning with the Assistant Head (Academic) before joining a class for the rest of the day. We will also request a reference from the child’s current school. A decision is usually made within 24 hours and communicated at the earliest opportunity to parents. Every effort is made in all sections of the school to ensure that when a pupil attends for a Taster Day he or she is put at ease and feels comfortable and relaxed throughout.
Admission to Truro School’s 1st to 4th Year is by entrance examination, school report and interview. Admission to the Sixth Form is by school report and interview, and is based on predicted GCSE grades or equivalent.
