At Darul Uloom London, we hope that boarders will lead fulfilling and happy lives in a comfortable, spiritual, and secure environment, so that they may progress in their religious and secular learning.
Darul Uloom London accepts a wide range of pupils of differing abilities and interests and we are happy to accept any boarder who we feel will thrive in our friendly and caring environment. The Senior Management Team handles all registrations and admissions to the school and this is done through a personal interview with the student and his parents, several initial assessments and finally a report from the child’s previous school containing his academic levels and reference to his behaviour. A decision is then made after consultation and admission would either be granted or refused.
Boarding is allocated by age groups, in separate wings, and on separate floors. There are experienced Housemasters who are readily available to assist in any issue that may arise and are easily approachable. There are Housemasters who reside on site and are always available should help and/or advice be required.
A duty log is kept (Incident Record Sheets) in which minor misconduct and sanctions are recorded. Major incidents requiring formal sanctions, i.e. suspension or exclusion are recorded in the Major Sanctions folder but can only be sanctioned by the Head of Care. Complaints or issues may be raised with Teachers, Housemasters, Apprentices, Senior Management Team, The Designated Safeguarding Lead, or the Principal via the school’s open door policy.
There are Independent Listeners available for all students to provide counselling and confidential reporting of issues or concerns. Children generally feel comfortable approaching members of staff if they have a matter or complaint that they wish to discuss. The school has an Islamic foundation that also actively promotes British values, and its religious teachings play an important role in the moral and spiritual development of the students. Welfare support is provided through mentoring by the Boarding staff and the Teachers. Medical care is offered by the appropriately trained Boarding staff and administration staff, who are all trained in Medical Administration and First Aid.
During weekends on site boarders over 16 years of age, are permitted to go to the local town centre for shopping or for local amenities, but must return by the designated time (4 pm). The boarding staff provide a program of activities for evenings and weekends which allow boarders to have access to sports and recreation facilities within the main school campus. Year 7 boarders are allowed to go home every weekend but must return on Sunday before 5.30 pm. All other boarders will be allowed to go home every 2 weeks for the weekend.
All pupils are obliged to attend the prayers regularly and on time.
Our aim for each student by the time he graduates is that he:
Every weekend, all Year 7 students are allowed to go home for the weekend. From Year 8 onwards students will be allowed every two weeks. You wash your clothes and bedding during these breaks. If you wish to wash your clothes whilst at Darul Uloom, there are regular washing facilities available in the laundry room. Check on your Students Notice Board or talk to your Housemaster for more information.
Students must at all times wear clothes conforming to Islamic Law (Sharia) and adhere to the practices of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) with regards to personal appearance. This means that you must wear a cap and white Jubbah or Shalwar Kamees. The only jumper the students are permitted to wear must be black with no logo and no hoodies.
Smoking is strictly prohibited. It is a very serious offence to bring cigarettes, Shisha pens, drugs or any such items into the Darul Uloom. If you are not sure of whether something is allowed or not, then the responsibility is on the student and guardian to clarify before bringing and/or using onsite.
If you are felling unwell, you will be seen by the school designated medical lead. You will be treated and taken care of. If you require further examination, you will be sent home. If it is an emergency, and you are unable to see your local GP, then an on duty housemaster will make an appointment for you to see the doctor at his surgery at the earliest opportunity or arrange for you to be taken to the hospital.
Any medication you bring from home will be stored in the medical room. Your medication can only be taken at their prescribed time and under the supervision of a member of staff.
Display boards will have up to date information with all first aiders and first aid box locations. They have completed a HSE approved First Aid course and hold a valid certificate of competence in First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
Darul Uloom London is committed to the welfare, safeguarding and health and safety of all and understands it to be of the highest standard. In addition to clear guidelines for the safety of the pupils’ there is CCTV that has been put in place and which is monitored by designated staff.
It is best to give your money for safekeeping to the school bursar. Do not keep large amounts of money in your pocket or in the bedroom. All students have been allocated a locker. Hence the management will not be responsible. The school bursar is Hafiz Majeed Ullah.
Students are recommended not to have more than £10 pocket money with them during the week.
If the fire alarm sounds, leave the building immediately and gather at the designated assembly point outside. There are fire escape plans throughout the building. Do not wait for friends or to collect belongings if the fire alarm sounds. There are designated fire marshals in Darul Uloom, if in an event of a fire, please follow their instructions. Do not play with the fire extinguishers or use them without reason. Anyone doing so will be charged and sanctioned appropriately.
Darul Uloom has a strict no-bullying policy. Any student found bullying; his parents will be called and may be expelled from the institute as a result. If you are being bullied, then inform someone straight away. Relevant posters have been displayed around Darul Uloom London giving guidance in the event that any student is worried or concerned about any matter. Darul Uloom London provides a number of responsible adults with whom a pupil can consult. Notices are displayed in the reception area, and other key areas listing who can be approached.
There is a payphone available for students to use. You may make calls using this phone. The numbers are displayed next to the payphones. But you are only allowed to make calls during break times.

These are appointed students elected and agreed upon by the students and staff who can be a point of call for advice and guidance in general terms and should not be expected to deal or be referred to insensitive matters as they too are students. The appointed students are respected by their peers. They are trustworthy and honest, which ensures they are elected by their fellow students rightfully.
Students faced with mobility restrictions should notify the housemasters or the school office ASAP. Appropriate and necessary adjustments will then be made to provide ease of mobility and access to boarding and school accommodation and facilities. Prior to enrolment, an individual healthcare plan will be made for anyone with mobility restrictions.
You can study in your bedrooms and there are designated classrooms open for you to study in the evening and at break times.
The school provides the students with lockers and fridge/freezer facilities to store their personal groceries, fridge/freezers are cleaned out fortnightly. Toasters, microwaves, and kettles are also provided in the dining hall for students to prepare their own meals.
The tuck shop and the book shop stock healthy foods, personal hygiene products and stationery products.
Students can utilise indoor facilities such as pool, table tennis, carom boards etc. There are also outdoor facilities such as the football pitch. If students want some time to themselves, the library, masjid, private study rooms or football pitch can be utilised.
