Please submit all of these items in the online parent portal by December 12th of current year.
Complete testing
Students can take either the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Visit www.ssat.org to register for the SSAT. For all applicants for whom English is their second language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required in addition to the SSAT or the ISEE. For Grade 8 only, the TOEFL Junior can be a substitute for the TOEFL. For more information, please visit www.ets.org.
Complete the parent and student interview
Boarding applicants should contact Molly Averitt in the Office of Admission to arrange both a parent and a student interview.
Teacher Evaluations and Head of School Evaluations are due Jan. 29th of next year.
Submit Official Transcript Release Form to your daughter's school
Once you have submitted your daughter's application, please locate the Transcript Release Form in the parent portal checklist or by clicking here and click on 'Edit this Request.' You will have the opportunity to enter the email address of the school administrator who is responsible for grades, transcripts, or progress reports at your daughter's current school. This will allow the school to upload your daughter's transcripts directly to the student application file. This checklist item will be marked complete once the transcripts have been received by Hockaday. The deadline for the receipt of your child's school records, if available, is January 29 of next year.

The Hockaday Residence Life Program is centered on the development of adolescent young women and preparing them for rewarding lives outside the classroom. We encourage each girl to live out the ideals of the Cornerstones of Hockaday through our House Goals: Find Joy and Friendship, Act Responsibly, Gain Understanding and Lead with Purpose.
As a boarding program, the development of a cohesive community is vital. Self-discipline, consideration and courtesy towards others, the development and promotion of student strengths and talents, and high standards for behavior and community involvement are all key components of our program and are the expectation for all residents.
Balancing academics and extracurricular activities, while learning to live independently in a diverse community can be challenging. We guide residents daily as they navigate choices related to friendships, balancing work, extra-curricular activities and play, personal care and wellness, safety and personal security, and other age appropriate life skills for emerging young adults.
As residents progress through the year, they form unparalleled friendships, find strength in both their trials and triumphs, and grow in ways they never thought possible.
