HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR LINSLY BOARDING STUDENTS

Out of concern for the health and welfare of all our boarding students, The Linsly School requires that every boarding student be covered by a comprehensive injury and medical insurance plan for the entire school year. Insurance plans must cover your child in the State of West Virginia and provide a United States address and phone number for claims and customer service. Travel insurance is NOT accepted as medical insurance, due to inadequate medical coverage. Plans that require pre-payment for services (besides nominal co-payments) are not acceptable.

FOR INTERNATIONAL BOARDING STUDENTS:

In order to ensure quality, efficient and immediate care from local health care providers, all international boarding students are required to pay for and be enrolled in ISM International Student Accident and Illness Insurance.

Parents are asked to NOT initiate individual policies on their own as the school will automatically initiate all policies for international boarding students. The group rate for an international Linsly student SILVER PLAN is $1600.00 for the 10-month school term and it is reflected in the fee schedule of the student’s contract. This price reflects a discounted group rate versus the rate of same policy when purchased individually.

ISM insurance is underwritten by ACE American Insurance which is an admitted carrier rated A+ through AM Best. This plan was chosen after careful consideration to provide the most cost-effective, comprehensive international student accident, illness and wellness coverage for the Wheeling, WV area.

***IMPORTANT! Please do not renew previous/existing insurance plans or purchase other plans for the 2019-2020 school year! There will be no exceptions for outside insurance carriers for international students.***

FOR DOMESTIC BOARDING STUDENTS:

As a parent or guardian, it is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to confirm that your insurance plan will cover your child in the State of West Virginia. Some insurance companies provide away-from-home coverage, while others may provide out-of-network coverage, but at a higher cost. Talk with your insurance company about what medical benefits will be curtailed, and what deductibles and co-payments will be required, if any, when your child receives care away from home.

Domestic students who live more than 200 miles from Linsly are eligible to participate in our program for ISM International Student Accident and Illness Insurance. Please contact Katie Campsey, School Nurse, if you would like more information on this program.

It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to obtain referrals for your child if and when they are needed, and to follow through in a timely manner with all insurance paperwork as it arises, including the submission of claims.

The Health Center is required to provide a copy of the front and back of all pertinent insurance cards to providers at the time of service. It is very important that DOMESTIC boarding students provide us with an ENLARGED copy of both the FRONT and BACK of all insurance cards (health, prescription, and dental). You will be prompted to upload these copies to your Magnus Health Portal.

If your health insurance changes at any time during the school year, it is the parent or guardian's responsibility to send updated insurance information for your child to the school nurse, Mrs. Katie Campsey, RN at kcampsey@linsly.org.
