Residential Life

Residence life at Brewster can be summed up in three words: active, exciting, and life-changing.

This is the time in your life where you’ll learn to become independent, be accountable for your actions, get along with others, make important life decisions, form lifelong relationships, and develop skills that will help make your transition to college a smooth one. But you won’t be alone—you’ll be surrounded by a community of caring people, ranging from your academic advisor to your community life parent to supportive peers.

You’ll form lasting bonds with your fellow residents—and new friends—as you live, learn, study, and play together. Through group meetings and dorm charters, students create and manage their living environment. Once a week, members of each residence hall gather in their lounges to discuss concerns and possible solutions, vote on decisions, and share ideas. You’ll learn how to become a leader of character and integrity, learn to work with others, effectively run meetings, consider other viewpoints, and communicate with a diverse range of people.

Dorm Life and Activities

From day to day activities to special dorm trips off campus to block parties, there is never a shortage of things to do. Day students are assigned to a dorm so participate in weekly dorm meetings and other activities throughout the school year.

Dorm Rooms

Brewster students live in 18 residence halls, with residences designated for lower school and upper school students. Many rooms offer a lakefront view and all come furnished with a bed, curtains, desk, chair, and dresser. In addition, each hall has lounges and common areas with TVs, DVD players, refrigerators, and microwaves for student use. Take a 360° look inside a dorm room at Brewster below. Lakeside Campus

Known as The Oldest Summer Resort in America, Wolfeboro offers everything you’d want and rarely find at most New England boarding schools. And as a Brewster student, you’ll be a short walk (or skateboard, skate, pedal, or jog) from it all – restaurants, pizza places, ice cream shops, a shoe store, art galleries, and a diverse assortment of other shops. And don’t forget the outdoor concerts, festivals, sporting events, street fairs, community celebrations, and museums all within a short distance from campus.

Plus, you’ll be just an hour or two from some of New England’s best culture, sports, and activities in Boston, Portland, Concord, Freeport, and Portsmouth. Our campus is only one hour and 15 minutes from the Manchester (NH) Airport and two hours from Logan International Airport in Boston.

Imagine having a lake right outside your door. You can watch the sun set, catch a glimmer of the mountain’s reflections or the frosty mist rising from the ice, gaze upon the picturesque views from the huge windows of our lakefront library or admission office, or play Frisbee along its shore. Or you can do what our students love most about our location – jumping in the lake off the Brewster dock, one of the most popular gathering spots on campus.

Wolfeboro offers a safe, friendly, and charming setting for academic, athletic, and social pursuits. Located along the shores of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee and less than an hour from the breathtaking White Mountains of New Hampshire, Brewster places you in the heart of the action. You can take advantage of all that nature offers through our Outdoor Skills Program and participate in activities such as rock/ice climbing, hiking, kayaking, and skiing activities in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

Estabrook Dining Hall

The Estabrook Dining Hall and servery underwent a complete renovation in 2012. This bright and cozy place to enjoy meals features a gas fireplace built into a rock wall, carpeting to decrease the sound level, an abundance of natural light, and a full-sized projector screen for when that big game is on.

The centerpiece of the servery is a wood-fired brick oven from which breads, roasts, frittatas, and other delicious fare emerge daily. Dual serving stations on each end of the servery ensure that students spend more time relaxing with friends while enjoying their meals than standing in line waiting for them
