Welcome to the Boarding

Boarding at BCS is a home away from home for our students; where the focus is to create a positive, caring, stimulating and safe environment where children from all nationalities and cultures can thrive and connect.

Our boarding team believe in a child-centred education which allows our students to grow in confidence and independence, while fully supporting them in their academic and personal successes. Emphasis is placed on concern for the welfare of others within the school community and when they arrive at BCS, students are immediately given a 'boarding buddy' to show them how things work.

Our students come from a diverse range of cultures; something in which we celebrate and champion within the boarding community, frequently offering opportunities for students to discover, learn and embrace the world around us. As in all areas of the school, our boarding provision is underpinned by a strong pastoral support system, ensuring pupils always feel valued, listened to and fully supported.

Boarding Options

From Full Boarding, most commonly used from overseas pupils, UK pupils over three-four hours away, or Sport Academy based pupils; to Weekly Boarding for parents who work in London or other cities, but reside in this beautiful area and do not wish to disrupt their child’s education. We also offer Flexi-Boarding and Day Boarding options.

Full-time Boarding
Pupils who board full-time benefit from additional supervised study time, plus a full programme of evening and weekend activities. During the week, they can concentrate on their academic studies, as well as participating in a wide range of leisure and cultural activities. Weekends are a time for fun, with lots of opportunities to learn new skills, enjoy trips out and pursue interests. (i.e. no exeats!).

Full-time boarders go home only at half term and during holidays. We have no weekends during term time when pupils ‘must’ go home but you are also free to take your child home on any weekend you like.

Weekly Boarding
Weekly Boarding is becoming increasingly popular as it offers students the opportunity to experience the fun of boarding and provide extra time for their studies, whilst keeping close links with home.

Students with a long daily journey, as well as those approaching exams, can benefit by living-in from Monday-Friday.

Flexi Boarding
Where and when beds are available, any day pupil can enjoy the facilities and companionship available in boarding on an ad-hoc basis. This facility allows day pupils to experience boarders' activities, to have a sleepover with friends, to solve the problem of needing to stay at school late on a particular day, or simply to assist parents who might have a short-term commitment that takes them away from home.

Day Boarding
This is available to any pupil who wants to stay at school until 8.00pm Monday to Friday. This can benefit parents who may need to work late on certain nights or simply to offer a dedicated time for the completion of homework with a member of teaching staff. Day boarding can be used on an ad hoc basis or on the same days each week. It runs from 4:45pm, when day boarders can use school facilities to play sports, practice music or relax with their friends in the boarding houses. At 6:00pm they will enjoy a full evening dinner and then a homework session supervised by a member of staff from 6:30pm.
