The Boarding Experience

A Home Away From Home

The boarding school advantage at Trinity-Pawling lets our students learn and grow in a close-knit community of faculty, staff, and peers. With 90% of faculty living on campus, our students learn from their teachers not only as classroom instructors, but also as their coaches and dorm parents, establishing a strong culture of collaboration and providing for 24/7 learning. Our faculty choose to teach at Trinity-Pawling because they can be fully invested in the holistic learning of each student.

The boarding experience at Trinity-Pawling is designed to help students develop a sense of responsibility, self-sufficiency, connectedness, and lifelong friendships. They gain confidence and a better understanding of what it means to live and thrive in a community.

Health & Wellness

Trinity-Pawling fosters health and wellness in every aspect of student life. Faculty and staff members, dorm parents, and coaches work with our Health Center team to ensure that all students feel healthy, safe, and cared for during their time on campus. The Trinity-Pawling Health Center provides students with comprehensive, 24/7 health care by dedicated school nurses, athletic trainers, and the school physician.

Mental Health Care

Katie Allen Berlandi, MSW is the School's Dean of Counseling and is also a psychology teacher in the Science Department. She is available for individual counseling to help students adapt to boarding school life and develop strategies for dealing with stress and the challenges of adolescence. She also serves as a comprehensive resource for all mental health issues. Additional mental health professionals are available by appointment for evaluation, treatment, and referrals. Help is always available for anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. If a student needs long-term treatment, he may be referred to a specialist with a referral from a primary care provider.

The School Chaplain, Fr. Daniel Lennox, has a great deal of counseling experience and is also available as a counseling resource. He is in charge of on-campus pastoral care. He should be contacted directly or through a faculty member. Students may wish to discuss both spiritual and non-spiritual issues with Fr. Lennox.

Student Leadership

There are countless opportunities for students to develop leadership skills at Trinity-Pawling. Our community is intentionally designed to unleash the full potential of each student. Classes, clubs and activities, dorms, community service, and athletics are all venues for students to assume both official and unofficial positions of leadership, build their confidence, and become effective role models.
