Leaving during the year:
- In the first semester:
If the family has informed the administration by July 31st at the latest by sending an informal email to ( verwaltungsleitung@dsty.ac.jp ) about the mid-year withdrawal in the first semester, the school or kindergarten fees can be reduced to 50% of the annual price. If the administration is notified until after July 31st, no reduction in the annual fees can be made from August 1st without exception.
- From the second half of the year (01.02.):
100% of the annual price of the school or kindergarten fees will be charged.
Mid-year entry:
- Entries during the year are billed on a monthly basis. The invoice amount is the sum of a school fee portion and a percentage flat rate for expenses
- The amount of the school fees is calculated based on the number of months of schooling remaining, starting with the month of entry until the end of the school year
- The percentage of the flat-rate expense allowance corresponds to the number of school months since the beginning of the school year up to and including the month of entry and is charged on the pro rata amount of the school fees
- The month of school entry will be billed in full
- The amount will be rounded up to the nearest 1000 JPY
- Holiday periods count as school time
- Example: School entry on March 19th, school year starts on August 1st, school year ends on July 31st
School fee portion: 5 months left in the school year, i.e. 5/12 of the full annual fee Expense allowance: 8 months have passed since the start of the school year, i.e. 8% of the school fee portion Invoice amount: (5/12 x full annual fee) x 1.08
- Installment payment Installment payment is possible if an informal request is received by email to the accounting department ( buchhaltung@dsty.ac.jp
) by August 31st at the latest. The current conditions are as follows:
- Payment in 4 installments due on October 30, December 30, February 28 and April 30 of the current school year
- Calculation of a processing fee of 1% rounded up to the total amount originally payable
- All fees are due upon receipt of the invoice or, in the case of installment payments, from the payment dates specified above, and are to be paid in full. In the event of late payment, DSTY reserves the right to charge interest of 3% above the Bank of Japan's discount rate per school year on the total amount originally invoiced.
loyalty discount
- With effect from the 2018/19 school year, every child who has completed their 6th year of contributions will receive a 10% discount on non-reduced school fees.
- The loyalty discount can generally only be granted for full school years; there is no monthly recording.
- The school years relevant for the loyalty discount are not counted consecutively, but cumulatively. This means that if you leave DSTY once, the school years in the past can be included in the calculation after you rejoin.
- The scope and granting of the loyalty discount is decided anew every year depending on the financial situation of the school. The loyalty discount will continue unchanged for the 2024/25 school year.
- Admission fees cannot be reduced under any circumstances.
- A refund of fees, even in the event of a longer absence, cannot be made.
- If a parent remains a member of the non-profit German School Tokyo Yokohama Foundation after the child/children leave DSTY, the admission fees will be fully waived if the child/children re-enter DSTY.
- The bus regulations apply to school bus fees
social discounts
The non-profit German School Tokyo Yokohama Foundation has set itself the goal of enabling German-speaking students to attend the DSTY regardless of their parents' income or financial situation.
The following criteria serve as a guideline for the granting of social discounts:
- Income of parents/guardians:
- The annual gross family income should be less than 7 million yen per year if only one schoolchild attends the DSTY
- The annual gross family income should be less than 8.5 million yen if two school children attend the DSTY.
- financial situation of the parents/guardians
- Total worldwide assets (real estate holdings, stock holdings, company shares, etc.) must be disclosed.
Each application is examined individually. The board of the non-profit German School Tokyo Yokohama Foundation reserves the right to decide in individual cases that deviate from the criteria mentioned.
Applications for social discounts must be submitted before entry or before the start of the school year for which the discount is requested. Applications must be submitted in person. The administration (verwaltungsleitung@dsty.ac.jp ) is available at any time for any questions.
