The MIS campus has the feel of a tropical garden. It is an oasis of peacefulness set amongst busy Medan. It has spacious classrooms, a library, a computer lab, a science laboratory, an early childhood center, two swimming pools, an indoor gymnasium with a stage, an art room, a music room, a full sized soccer field, three outdoor playground, and an administration building. We have a fully Wifi campus and a state of the art Apple-based computer lab. Our campus allows for optimal conditions to educate both the mind and the body.
The purpose of Medan International School is to provide a high quality, internationally accredited education which places the development of each student at the centre of educational endeavors. The MIS library supports this aim. MIS follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum that aims "to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect". In each subject, all students are encouraged to be able to independently find appropriate information to enhance their studies.
MIS believes that the library is the heart of the school, and much effort has been made to create a comfortable environment for students of all ages. The MIS Library is registered online with SCIS (School Catalogue Information Service). SCIS is an Australian and New Zealand information retrieval and cataloguing service for schools. This service is very helpful for classifying and cataloguing books. It also provides information about the books in our collection. SCIS (Schools Catalogue Information Service) was created with the aim of providing schools with access to a database of consistent catalogue records created according to agreed standards.
