Moama Anglican Grammar School is situated on a picturesque and expansive 10 hectares, adjacent the Moama Sporting Precinct on the NSW-Victorian border. The School is the region’s only institution to offer K-12 education on the one campus, enabling our students to pass seamlessly across the traditional transition points of Primary and Secondary School. Our focus is on each student as an individual, seeking to assist them to achieve their potential. We aim for our students to develop a strong sense of honour, caring for themselves, others and the world they live in.
Moama Anglican Grammar has grown into a vibrant and successful School. It all began with a vision of the Murray Shire Council to have a secondary school in Moama. In May 2004 a community group of approximately one hundred people convened at the St James Anglican Church and supported the new initiative. From this initial meeting a steering committee was established.
The steering committee sought advice and expertise, adopted a constitution, registered a company and created a Board of Management who advised the Federal Government of their intention to commence a school by Term 1 2005. The new Board obtained a banker, overdraft guarantors and acquired two private loans to allow purchase of computers and a suitable building.
Moama Anglican Grammar is set in the idyllic location of Echuca/Moama on the Murray River. It is the only independent private school in the region. Moama Anglican Grammar provides its students with a dynamic and engaging learning environment with a focus on visible thinking skills and pastoral care. The school’s credo of Honour and Excellence guides us as we work in partnership with our families to develop young people who will be the leaders of the future.
Our focus is on each student as an individual and they are at the centre of all that we do at Moama Anglican Grammar. The academic performance of the school is benchmarked against best practice. Teachers provide dynamic, purposeful and engaging teaching and learning environments for students. Providing differentiated learning and choice that motivates and involves the students in the learning process. Moama Anglican Grammar particularly focuses on the practical application of visible thinking skills and problem solving in order to build a growth mindset that will be needed for the future; one that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.
The Primary School, delivers a broad educational experience incorporating a solid foundation in literacy and numeracy. As students move through primary levels they develop skills in conceptual learning, emergent thinking and mastery acquisition. They acquire an understanding of what determines logical and scientific questions and what counts as evidence in dealing with such questions. They develop an intricate knowledge of the history and culture they are inheriting and which they, in turn, will shape. They are exposed to Languages, Music and Performance, Visual Arts, Information Technology and Health and Physical Development, Health and Physical Education and Sport.
By the time students reach Secondary School, they have developed the skills to learn and cooperate effectively within teams; a feature of contemporary work and society. Throughout this transition students cultivate an understanding of the way to think and problem solve as well as how to treat other members of the community with respect and care. In Secondary School students gain a sense of their own place and value. They are more self-directed and begin to specialise in their areas of interest looking forward to tertiary entry via the Higher School Certificate, entry to work or apprenticeships as well as other diverse pathways to the future. Our secondary curriculum offers a broad range of core and elective subjects to support student’s diverse interests and abilities. The learning partnership between home and school, teacher and student becomes stronger as students move through adolescence into young adults.
