Here are some tips for young moms to help them journey throughout the course of motherhood:

1. Don’t lose your confidence
Other people may judge you for your choices but the only real judgment is between you and your God. Do not care less about your fears and apprehensions about being a mother at such a young age. Don’t lose confidence and be faithful to yourself and the life you want to create for your child.

2. Embrace it
Motherhood may come sooner than expected for you but the reality is that it’s here. Do not waste your time and energy fighting it and denying it. Embrace your life and the life you’re entrusted with. Instead of wishing your life was different, embrace your life and relish every moment.

3. Do not compare yourself to others
Never compare yourself to other moms whose lives seem ideal for you. Be a better mother by doing it with your instinct. They say comparison robs your joy. If you give in, you will miss out on so many blessings that come your way.

4. No one is a perfect mom
Realize that no one is perfect. Motherhood is not about being a perfect mother but realizing that you are also human. You make mistakes, and just like everyone else on the planet. You will just have burnout striving for perfection in parenting.

5. Be honest with yourself
Do not try to create a false picture of perfection to others. Be true to yourself. Encourage and support other mothers in their joys, hurt, stress, and struggles. Speak to an older and wiser woman who is willing to speak truth into your life.

6. Know your purpose
When it comes to parenting, the days are long, but the years are short. It’s easy to feel like a disappointment because you seem overwhelmed with your tasks. Meditate and think about how you’d like to raise your child.

7. Make a plan
After knowing your purpose, it’s time to make a concrete plan. Ask yourself these questions: What practical steps can you make now towards that end? Put these in a paper and read it to yourself day by day.

8. Relish the present
A child is a gift you’ve been given. This is now, embrace it and enjoy every moment of it. These moments are short and can just pass you by.

9. Look up
Remember that you are not alone. Seek refuge and support from your family and friends, and above all, God. You will find yourself stronger and a better mom in the days to come.
