Santa Sabina College, located in Strathfield, Sydney, is a Catholic independent school in the Dominican tradition – co-educational (P-4) and girls (5-12).

The Dominican Order (also known as the Order of the Preachers) is a Roman Catholic religious order best known for its commitment to holistic education, the pursuit of truth (Veritas) and its focus on preaching — spreading the Gospel through words and actions to inspire change. Founded by St Dominic de Guzman (1172-1221) in 1219, the order embraced a life of prayer and study, which led to a ministry of preaching in poverty – the early beginnings of the four Dominican pillars of Prayer, Study, Community and Service.

The pillars are not just boxes to be ticked, they are the rhythm of life and a way of being. The Dominican charism is open and porous. It honours intelligence, beauty, justice, community and individuality to bring into being a full humanity. The Dominican Difference requests commitment and engagement.

Music is part of all of us and by engaging the entire school community through music every aspect of student learning and community is strengthened. Successful music making means creating an open door policy with professional partners, composers and other schools.

Students have the opportunity to perform in a variety of string, brass, woodwind, percussion and vocal ensembles, participating in events such as masses, liturgies, community and major College events, Celebration of Music concerts, fortnightly recitals and international concert tours every three years.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers a continuum of international education. The programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development.
