Since our founding in 1956, before Singapore was even independent, Singapore American School has been on the leading edge of preparing students for their future. When we opened our doors with just 105 students, our first classes were held in large colonial-style bungalows. A garage was the science lab; the servants’ quarters were used for music and preschool; and assemblies were held in the dining room. As Singapore grew, so did the school. In the years that we grew through four campuses, the school has always focused on creating a vibrant learning environment that is student-centered, international in perspective, engaging, active, and critical.

Over time, our defining characteristics have included the range of courses offered, the quality of leadership and faculty, the clubs and activities available, the quality of the campus, and its general atmosphere. SAS has come a long way in 60 years, just as the country in which it resides. SAS and Singapore have shared a similar journey—one of progress, modernization, achievement, and change.

Singapore American School holds a legacy as one of the world’s leading American international schools. Our decades of strong academic results matter to our families who value learning, and to our students who will make their own history as SAS alumni.

The safety and wellbeing of every student at SAS is our highest priority. Every student should be cared for, advocated for, and safe at all times. This is ongoing work that we continually evaluate as a team. Additionally, we engage external consultants, clinical psychologists, and other child safeguarding professionals to ensure we are aligned with the best professional practices in this work.

Deep and personalized learning is at the heart of a Singapore American School education. Our students learn to think critically, collaborate with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds, and use creativity to solve unique challenges as they discover their passion and purpose in school.

Here at Singapore American School, resources and opportunities are never scarce—our school counselors contribute daily to the academic success of our students by providing a foundation for their social and emotional needs; and our personalized learning opportunities allow students to engage in service through academics and dozens of service clubs.

While Singapore American School has a rich legacy of academic excellence, we know there is more to our student experience than strong test results and exceptional college acceptances. Our alumni love to reminisce about Mr. Hoe’s cafeteria food, global travel opportunities, service projects, uniform styles, friendships, and all of the little moments that make our school such a wonderful place to be. We pay attention to the details so students have everything they need to succeed.

My daughter joined SAS from grade 3 and absolutely loves going to school everyday. SAS has a strong curriculum and motivated educators. The students are encouraged to challenge themselves and are supported by the school to meet (often exceed) the challenge.

As an alumnus and now a parent of two current students, I am proud to be affiliated with SAS. Excellent facilities, a dedicated faculty, and a wide range of program options make this an excellent school. They are finding ways to be inclusive without sacrificing standards and rigor, which is not an easy task in this competitive, often exclusive and ever-changing educational climate.

Graduated class of 1997. Wonderful school with faculty that cares about the future of students and help offer a global perspective. SAS was the best thing that ever happened to me :)

I can't think of a better way to receive a top tier education. Phenomenal facilities, impeccable academics, wonderful staff, and wonderful students. I'm also pretty sure I was the best volleyball player to ever attend SAS.

For seven years, SAS has been a fantastic place for my kids to grow and learn. We've had some truly extraordinary teachers every year and can't wait for more. It's a wonderful community for all of us

Education in the past has been good at making kids fit the mold: the IB mold, the AP mold, the IGCSE mold. The mold often says what is possible and what is not. Singapore American School, however, is giving students possibilities like never before with personalized learning, new course offerings, and passion pathways. Students at SAS find their true selves rather than letting a system define who they can become and how far they can go.

Class of 1979, Kings Road Campus. I have great memories of the campus, classmates, friends, and fellow SAS Band and Choir members. Unfortunately I have lost my SAS Yearbooks, but I still have my memories and own photographs of good times had there. Great Opportunity to be a Student at SAS and learn with other students from the U.S.A. and all over the World. My brother attended Ulu Pandan Campus as well. It was an amazing experience for both of us !!! I miss SAS and living in Beautiful Singapore, and it is amazing how she has gone.
