St Aloysius College has been educating girls in the heart of the city of Adelaide since 1880. Our academic programs offer a wide range of subjects to enable all students to pursue their passions. With an outstanding record of tertiary entrance, we are proud of the many inspiring role models, including our talented teaching staff, who encourage all students to strive for excellence in their chosen fields.
The College’s curriculum extension programs enable students to explore a range of activities outside the classroom. As a Mercy school, a commitment to justice underpins all that we do, and our Justice and Mercy group, along with the Mercy in Action Passport (MiAP), make an awareness of social issues and a sense of agency in addressing these part of every student’s education. A thriving sports program and an active Outdoor Education platform, including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, make SAC an exciting and engaging school.
The international dimension of an education at St Aloysius College is central to our success. We welcome international students from many countries to complete their studies in Adelaide. We also offer exchanges and study tours to many countries, supported by an excellent languages program.
Each student is invited to share the Christian story through classroom lessons, daily prayer, reflective experiences, celebrations of liturgy and participation in action for social justice.
Our students may choose to prepare for First Eucharist and Confirmation, which are the external signs of a commitment to a Christian life.
Throughout the school year our students participate in celebrations of the main events of the life of Christ – Lent, Easter and Christmas – through whole school Masses and classroom liturgies.
At St Aloysius College we maintain the commitment of the founding Sisters of Mercy to work for the most marginalized people in our community. We encourage students to participate in a broad range of social justice programs, with a particular focus on Mercy Works projects, both locally and abroad.
Each year students from Years 7 to 12 have opportunities to participate in a spiritual retreat, enabling them to develop their faith in a supportive and inclusive environment.
