St Kilian's German School

St. Kilian’s German School/Eurocampus in Dublin welcomes girls and boys of all nationalities, cultures and religions. While we follow the Irish curriculum to Junior and Leaving Certificate we place a strong emphasis on the German Language and offer a parallel curriculum (Sek1) to those students able to pursue a course in a limited number of subjects through German. Knowledge of German is not a requirement for enrolment in our Kindergarten, Primary or Secondary School (1st or 4th year).

Our modern and forward-thinking approach to teaching German allows pupils to learn the language in an effective and enjoyable manner – from the age of four in Kindergarten through to Leaving Certificate. As a result our students leave St. Kilian’s with a highly proficient standard of German above and beyond the demands of the Leaving Certificate; they have an excellent sense of self as young adults and can confidently take their place in universities in Ireland and abroad.

Our aim is to prepare students for life as citizens of Europe and to set targets for them which challenge their individual abilities. The establishment of the Eurocampus in 2001, when the Secondary School of the Lycée Français d’Irlande relocated to the St. Kilian’s Clonskeagh campus, was the first step towards providing a true European style education for Dublin.

We offer a diverse, inclusive yet challenging environment, enriched with a strong sense of Irish, German and European culture. We foster independence of thought, a love of learning, personal responsibility, confidence and integrity. Our aim is to enable all our students to fulfil their potential and to take their place in an ever changing world. Our mission, as an educational community, is the pursuit of excellence from Kindergarten to Leaving Certificate.

We are proud of the way our students go out into the world as articulate, confident and self-assured graduates of St. Kilian’s.

I have gone to this school for my whole life, now im in first year. I absolutely ADORE this school. So many friendly people to meet, the teachers are very nice (they sometimes give sweets on special occasions hehe)! I have many friends that all have my back! My kindergarten experience was amazing. I loved my teacher (that sadly left :( ), so many great things to do at kindergarten, I miss it alot. Enough chit chat, this school is like a paradise for me. Unless one thing, German. German is a language that probably half the school doesn’t need. But learning german is like a bonus, right? In case you go to germany or somewhere that speak german, boom! You just have a little google translate dwarf to translate for you! Cool!

Excellent international school located on campus that includes German & French Secondary schools and a German Primary & Kindergarten. School is academically strong although there is also a strong emphasis on holistic education including daily physical education and a broad range of personal development opportunities. The German school teaches primarily through English with various German streams tightly integrated into daily school life and academics options eg wholly German medium subject options. The school is supported by the German and Irish governments and the Eurocampus also receives support from the French government through the LFI (French school). The children are of a particularly international mix which reflects in the ethos of the school. Finally if considering this school and looking at Irish school league tables it’s worth noting that while the school scores highly on these tables it’s academic progression rate is somewhat under-reported due to the high rate of student progression to universities in other European states
