St. Timothy’s is a private, all-girls boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP) and Middle Years Program (MYP). Our goal is to prepare students for lives of meaning and consequence by providing a comprehensive and flexible academic program in a supportive, richly resourced, and beautiful setting.

The School’s residential structure enables faculty to support students in their personal, social, and intellectual development. Boarding and day students – as well as our parents, alumnae, and friends – appreciate the individual attention, the community atmosphere, the spiritual richness, and the high standards that characterize the St. Timothy’s experience. The academic program fosters excellence in all disciplines within the liberal arts tradition. Faculty members guide students in mastering skills, acquiring knowledge, and thinking critically, creatively and independently. The School strives to help girls achieve their potential not only intellectually, but also artistically, athletically, and morally, so that they may lead responsible and fulfilling lives.

St. Timothy’s School is committed to establishing a community that encourages people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs to understand and respect one another and to be sensitive to differences. In its programs, the School seeks to promote a balance of leadership, cooperation, and service, together with a deeper awareness of the global community and the natural world. Each member of our tight-knit community has special talents and gifts that help fulfill the mission of the School.

St. Timothy’s School, a school rich with tradition. St. Timothy's School was chartered in 1832 and today educates 200 girls from around the country and the world. As a day and boarding high school serving girls in 9th through 12th grades, we are proud to offer the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

We believe that girls are best able to reach their full potential in a single-sex environment. Girls at St. Timothy’s School are thinkers, learners, and action takers, transcending traditional gender roles and preconceptions of how girls should act; each is confident in her sense of self.

The IB Diploma Program is an academically challenging and balanced program recognized across the country and around the world. It has been designed to foster student development intellectually, socially, and emotionally. The program, has gained wide recognition and high levels of respect from the world’s leading universities.

St. Timothy’s international community offers a rich and culturally diverse student experience. One-third of our faculty is international and our students represent 18 U.S. states and 25 countries. Faculty and students share their cultures, traditions, and varying perspectives with one another both inside and outside the classroom.

St. Timothy’s is an all-girls school for a very simple reason: because girls learn best with other girls. This isn’t simply a place where you come to learn, but it is a place where the people around you take a holistic approach to your development and maturation. Your teachers will believe in you, advocate for you, push you to become your best, and devote all of their formidable talents and energies to helping you succeed. We know that great things can be accomplished when each girl is empowered to surpass the limits of her perceived ability — to dare, to seek, to invent.

In a single-sex school, a girl can comprehend her value and her capabilities in ways that have nothing to do with how she looks or whom she dates. She can be free to experiment and explore, trying out new things and trying on new roles, and following her ambitions. By subtracting boys, an all-girls education adds opportunities. At a girls’ school, a girl occupies every role: every part in the play, every leadership position in the student government or club, and every position on every team. When everyone in your physics class is a girl, it sends a strong message that girls can do physics. When all the leaders at your school are girls, you know that girls can lead. In this environment of purposeful engagement, your peers are not seen as your competition but as your support system. Your classmates will regularly remind you that you are valued — they will be there to cheer you on.

As a school attuned to a changing world, St. Timothy’s prepares future leaders to help shape that change. In our supportive yet challenging environment, girls experiencing changes in body, mind, and spirit can take risks. They recognize themselves as scholars, athletes, artists, activists, and leaders. We are committed to creating a culture of achievement in which your progress and success is of great importance and the discovery and development of your individual potential is paramount. We want to help prepare each of our students for a life of meaning, purpose, and consequence and do so in a caring community.
