Taejon Christian International School is one of the top foreign schools in Korea. With a caring international faculty, TCIS delivers a Western-style IB school experience to children in grades K-12. Ex-pat and local families choose us for a high-quality English-speaking education and a strongly-supportive community experience.
TCIS cares about children and their well-being. We are known for providing children in elementary, middle, and high school with an engaging holistic experience. Students feel like they are part of a caring team of peers and mentors that challenges them toward their personal best. TCIS programs promote growth in academics, character, global awareness, balance, and leadership. We teach these ideas in the IB DP, MYP, and PYP programs as a continuous course to create competent learners.
Students from Daejeon, Seoul, and the world join us on our campus daily and through our Boarding Care Program. They also go on to fine colleges all around the world. We are happy to be one of the best international schools in Korea for a wide range of foreign and globally-minded families.
One of the first things that stand out is the union of exceptional academics and a Christian ethos. TCIS is one of very few schools in the world to offer all three IB programs in a Christian worldview context. TCIS was a forerunner for IB in South Korea, and was the first school in the country to offer all three programs. Every year, students distinguish themselves in academics, athletics, and the arts. Even further, they distinguish themselves by their compassion to care for and serve their fellow humans. Through educational best practices and a message of hope, we cultivate learners who are both caring and competent.
We love to provide new experiences for all ages. There are opportunities all through the school for students to develop skills and discover passions. These experiences augment learning with practice, and they provide lessons for developing leadership. Through sports, arts, clubs, or volunteer opportunities, students learn while doing the things they love.
Students develop skills and character that will carry through their entire lives. This comes as a benefit for academic learning, but it also brings balance to their lives. Lifelong passions are often begun early on in these formative years.
TCIS and IB philosophies come together most closely in the idea that we create learners. Some programs focus on content-based models which assess students on their recall. TCIS teaches concepts and processes based on the Design Cycle and transfer of knowledge. Students learn to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open minded, caring, risk takers, balanced, and reflective. Ultimately, they are assessed on their ability to create in ways that show the depth of their understanding.
This focus on the person is critical in creating a child who can be successful in life beyond the classroom. TCIS education is flexible and prepares students for success in an ever-changing world.
To put it simply, TCIS values rigorous holistic education that prepares students to meet their goals, combined with Christian education that prepares students for a life of compassionate action. It is our firm belief that it is possible to offer both of these simultaneously without sacrificing the quality of either.
TCIS values education that focuses on the person rather than simply the content. Where a student filled with specific knowledge will eventually find their knowledge obsolete and out of date, a student who is an active and capable learner will always work toward innovation and the progressive edge. Furthermore, we believe that a student who learns to be internationally-minded, caring, compassionate, peace-loving, respectful, and balanced will be the kind of leader who makes this world a better place and will find fulfillment in doing so.
This philosophy of education demands high standards and qualified teachers who are willing and able to form mentor relationships with students. It also requires a co-curricular program focused on giving students meaningful opportunities to learn and practice strong character and ultimately puts them in positions of leadership in the community.

TCIS has been the most family-like community I've ever been a part of. With friends that I have made for a lifetime, teachers who invested in me, and the campus who pursued the Lord as a whole, I was blessed by this place that will always be my home. Grateful for this school that helped to create me into who I am today!

I went to TCIS from 2001-2005 and graduated in 05. TCIS will always remain as a special place for me. The school has not only changed me as a person but it's evolved me into a better human being. TCIS offers high level education, extra circular activities and sports programs which allows students to choose and do whatever they think is best for themselves. I've made some of my most valued connections (friends & faculty members) through my time at TCIS.

TCIS is an amazing, first class school that offers the students so many opportunities at every grade level. Our daughters have attended TCIS since 2015 and it has been a wonderful learning experience for both of them! The teachers and staff look at each child individually and go above and beyond to reach the child's academic potential.

I was a student at TCIS from 2005-2013 and experienced a tight-knit community that has high educational standards as well as high standards for character. The student community and faculty are friendly and TCIS was a place where I experienced belonging. I treasure my time at TCIS as one that prepared me not only for higher education but also prepared me for managing and tackling the world as an adult.
