Wanstead High School is a thriving 11-18 comprehensive school in the heart of the community. Wanstead High School is at a really exciting time in its development. We have a very positive OFSTED report, improving results, and our staff are totally committed to doing the best for their students. In return the students are keen to succeed.

The key to successful secondary education is to offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is taught well, by subject specialists. That's what Wanstead High School is doing. We are also instilling our students with enquiring minds and strong, positive values that will help them to thrive.

Our goal is to liberate the potential of all students to aspire, achieve and succeed in their learning. We will provide high quality education with character: inspiring our young people, keeping them safe, and preparing them fully for life in the modern world.

The school has developed it’s own internal systems in order to maintain high levels of attendance to school. Wanstead High School works closely with the Educational Welfare Service to ensure students are accessing education to a level which will enable them to achieve the best outcomes possible for them. This service along with our Heads of Years work with families who have difficulties maintaining acceptable levels of attendance.

To ensure the safety of our students the school has a dedicated Attendance Officer and Home Liaison who makes sure that contact is made with families on the first day of absence. For students who have Social or Emotional difficulties the Pastoral team offers a range of  support to help students overcome barriers preventing them from accessing their education.
