Meet the Ngwisha family. Wezi (19), Jonathan (17) and Ben (15) have achieved outstanding success during their school careers and have helped raise the standards of the Horizon International School (HIS) over the past 10 years.
Wezi, who graduated in 2016, was a role model and leader of the school. She excelled on all fronts – academic, cultural, and sport – including being appointed as a student council member every year, the house captain of Hatta Hornets, and being named the first head girl of HIS.
On the cultural side, Wezi took part in several school plays, including Les Miserables, Bugsy Malone and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also organised various multi-day school trips and fundraising initiatives for local charities.
Academics was another strong point for Wezi, who obtained A’s in GCSE English Literature and History, and B’s in GCSE Maths, Biology, and Business Studies.
In addition to her 100% school attendance, Wezi was named the captain of the girl’s netball team, and played an integral role in the girl’s winning basketball team. Her impressive school career enabled her to further her studies, joining Middlesex University in 2017, studying to earn her Honorary Law Degree (LLB Hons). Wezi’s ambition is to work for a law firm or become a certified member of the bar.
Following in Wezi’s footsteps is her brother, Jonathan. Described by his teachers and peers as a ‘kind, hard working, academic student’, Jonathan participated in many school events, sports and cultural activities, including being part of the student council and a school prefect. His 100% attendance, top academic results (GCSE’s A*:1 A:4 B:2 and C:1), and all-round involvement in the school contributed to him being awarded the prestigious Al Najah Award for the top student of 2016-2017.
Jonathan’s achievements during his time at HIS enabled him to join Heriot Watt University, where he is currently in his first year studying to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He plans to become an accredited architect and pursue his Master’s Degree.

The youngest of the family is Ben, who is the school’s longest enrolled student having been at HIS for 10 years. At the age of 15, Ben is an outstanding role model to younger students and has already been identified as a leader of the future – currently occupying the roles of school prefect and student council member.
He has organised multiple productions and multi-school day trips, along with being part of the school’s football, athletics, and basketball teams. He has always taken an active role in school life and has received many awards during his time at HIS. In Year 8, Ben was awarded the ‘Best Individual Athlete Award’ after Sports Day in 2015, and was also the recipient of the Highest Academic Achiever Award for Humanities and PE in 2017. More recently, in September 2018, Ben was recognized as Student of the Month for PE.
