The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Limited, established in 1966, is one of the three leading social welfare organizations in Hong Kong. With the service mission of “Individual Caring, Overall Concern”, we offer diversified services to the community of different classes and to all ages ranging from infant to elderly. This school is one of the seven nursery schools under the Council, providing full-day education and care services for children aged between 2 to 6. It was established in 1994 and is located in Sai Kung. The school is a detached, three-story building, surrounded by a serene environment with fresh air. In addition, the plentiful teaching equipment supplies children with the ideal learning and growing conditions.

Following the spirit of Christ’s love, it provides suitable schooling and activities for young children. It is a safe and revealing environment for learning. It teaches them good habits and attitudes, along with a well-balanced development on their physical fitness, senses, social skills, languages and intelligence.

With the love of the Christ, we shall raise happy, confident, kind and healthy children.

Our mission is to see the true and unique traits of children, development needs and learning models.

Beliefs

  • To follow Christ’s spirit, we lead a life that moves other lives.
  • Young children have abilities.
  • To respect each and every child as a unique person with its own learning method and way.
  • Happiness and sense of security are the greatest motivation for learning.
  • Healthiness is an important element of development.
  • Young children need to establish a harmonious relationship with themselves, their families, society and nature.
  • Meaningful learning comes from daily lives. They should learn from experience.

All our teachers have received pre-school education training, with relevant experiences. They are caring registered child care workers. With reference to theories and daily practices, the school aims at building up a caring and whole language environment for the children and fully developing children’s creativity, exploring and thinking skills through a variety of activities.

Small group learning, language, mathematics, general studies, line drawing practice, writing, role playing, nature observing, stories, singing, rhythmic movement, life training, craft making, drawing, physical games, outdoor activities, families activities etc.

Being the focus of teaching, whole-language-oriented learning is to teach according to children’s language development, their adaptability and their demand. This allows children to learn and apply with interest. Our purpose is to let children to have meaningful learning through daily chores in order to enhance their interests in learning. We provide different opportunities to encourage them to express their feelings and thoughts. This can boost their language and communication skills, and also raise their enthusiasm in pursuing knowledge themselves.

We hope to rear our children with a caring heart through our daily curriculum. Hence we have included elements such as self-love, caring for others, caring for the community, caring for the nature, etc. in our curriculum. Thus, they should have a better understanding of love and care. To let them know that everything has its value, therefore besides of loving oneself, they should love their families and care for people in need.
