Admission Procedure

How do I enroll my child?

You can contact the school via email or phone +41(0)52 624 17 07 to schedule a first visit to the school. This first visit can be with or without your child.

We can only secure places upon receipt of the completed application form and upon receipt of the registration fees.

Admission
By signing the Application for Admission document, parents agree to the terms of the General Conditions stated below.

We will only approve applications for enrolment if all requested documentation is complete. The application must include two recent school reports translated into English and, if applicable, specialist reports.

In line with the spirit of our mission statement, we believe that every child is unique and has the right to the best education we as a school can offer. Children should be able to go to a school that encourages and supports them in their learning and best develops them so that they can achieve their full potential. At ISSH, we accept all students who would benefit from an education at ISSH. The family must be able to meet the financial outlay necessary and the school must be assured that the presence of the student in the school will not negatively impact on the wellbeing and learning of the other students.

Students applying for a place at ISSH will be accepted on their individual ability to cope with, and benefit from, admission to the school. This will be determined by the Head of School, Section Principal and other members of staff as appropriate. In order for us to make this decision, applicants must submit previous school reports and any other relevant documentation, in English, sit entrance examinations (IB Diploma Programme) or sit placement tests (Middle Years Programme). Students at ISSH are expected to show effort and determination in progressing in their learning at each level and, as such, are expected to meet certain standards.

We offer support for students with special needs and whose English ability is not developed enough to benefit from mainstream classes.

Trial Period
In the interest of both, the family and the school, there is a 4 week trial period. During this period the teachers determine whether the student can cope with the academic expectations, they assess the amount of support the student might need, they see if the student shows the appropriate attitude towards learning and meets the behavior expectations. The trial period applies for both parties - family and school. For the boarding section the trial period is 3 months. Upon request from either party the trial periods may be extended further.
